"Wear, who graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in political science last year, will turn 24 this Wednesday. He will also move to Chicago in the coming days to fulfill his duties. Wear’s official title in the campaign will apparently be “Faith Vote Director.” CNN has more:"
"Wear, who was raised a Catholic but now attends a nondenominational, evangelical-style church in Washington, has spearheaded White House outreach to evangelicals and has focused on policy issues like adoption throughout Obama’s first term"
"Joshua DuBois, the executive director of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, directed religious outreach for the Obama campaign in 2008. Before that, it was unusual for Democratic presidential campaigns to hire faith outreach staffers."
Why would someone think it's "interesting timing" that a candidate for President would have someone on his campaign staff who focuses on faith outreach? The past 3 or 4 or more Presidents have done similarly. The votes of persons of faith are no less important or significant than the votes of feminists, gays, dog lovers, seniors, etc., etc.
Michael Wear has done similar work for the White House for the past 3 1/2 years. I think the choice of someone so young and inexperienced in managing others is interesting, and that this person seems to only have made inroads among people of the Christian faith, but his role is one that most candidates have on their staff.

So, this is not a new position as the OP has clearly quoted.
Not sure what this new hire is supposed to prove other than that the president is not adverse to hiring recent graduates.
Oh come on, since when have the democrats embraced a faith based initiative for votes? This is to counter Obama's supposed stand for gays, even though that's not realy what he said. He is trying to play both ends of the field. This guy is nothing more than a 'faith organizer'.
Obama can't win this election, no matter what dirty tricks he pulls or money he spends. He's a complete failure, and anybody with a brain knows it. There is no competition, this is all a stage.

Ralph Reed was doing pretty much the same thing for Pat Robertson's campaign when he was 27.
Not once did the OP quote this was a new position, they stated it was a new hire
Yes, a new hire to fill a position that was created during the 2008 campaign.
