That is a hypocritical statement if ever I've seen one....If you like freedom so much, then why are you so against other people's freedoms? Come to think of it our "nanny state", as you call it has more freedom than your evangelical influenced country. EconomyPolitics: Freedom Profiles: Canada beats US when it really counts

That's rich coming from somone whose rights can be abrogated by the mere flick of a "He's a terrorist" pen. You're joking right? You haven't flown lately or you'd know you get your jewels jangled by high school drop outs just to get on a damn plane and can have your azz thrown in jail indefinitely without right to habeas-corpus because your neighbour noticed you had one too many propane tanks in your back yard.

Free? You've long forgotten the meaning of the word.

A country that suspends due process in all things from detention to bodily searches without probable cause, is not by any stretch of the imagination free.

Nanny state? Another brain fart from a place that has multi generational welfare, even granting free celphones and minutes to the likes of mom's with 7 kiddies all from different fathers. Medicaid, medicare, Social Security; all things at least parallel to or far exceeding anything Canada provides.

Your country spends tax-payers dollars propping up private enterprises (GM, Chrysler, Solyndra, AIG, BofA, to name just a few) and insulating them from failure, last time I read the definition; government involvement in the administration and management of private enterprise using the funds garnered from the collective to sustain those institutions was just one of the haulmarks of a communist society.

You can't get any more nannified than that bunky!

FREEDOM OF SPEACH??? You can't be serious!

No one in Canada gets their azz thrown in jail with the usage of some obscure piece of crap like the PATRIOT ACT for dissing our PM.

We don't have a bunch of brownshirt Nazi buffoons running around under the guise of Homeland Security sniffing under beds and accessing your personal and private information at the drop of a hat. All this while you're gradually being silently invaded by your neighbour to the south.

Haaar. Reality check in aisle three.

Is that when you exchange one slick talking haircut for another slick talking haircut?

Your elections ceased to be free and impartial OR democratic when your candidates all started selling their souls to the highest bidder, be it the military complex or any one of those thousands of lobbyists you got running the show in your houses of congress.

You don't vote for the best down there; you vote for the one who puts on the best show with money donated by influence peddlars.

Clinton Resign: Hillary Shows Her Contempt for Free Speech, Silent 71 Year-Old Veteran Roughed Up | War Is A Crime .org

You pick one and I'll pick one from literally hundreds of examples from Guantanamo Bay to your recent Occupy movement. You'll run out of examples long before I've even touched on your Patriot Act and it's provisions used by Homeland Security to stifle any kind of dissent.

Why don't you just go back to your comfort zone of prudishness and leave Canada alone. You don't like the country, that's fine but use your energy cleaning up your mess down there before suggesting Canada's on the wrong path.

I do like Canada. Some nice people and beautiful National Parks. I do think you have an overreach of Government with regard to many things including free speech, which you guys seem more comfortable with and less vocally opposed to as we in the U.S. are when we feel our free speech is being trampled upon. I also think this exhibit is disgusting, which is getting back to the topic at hand which we are digressing from. Have a nice weekend.

Now that post is a reasonable offering. Much preferrable to the use of Nanny state to describe your neighbour and ally.

We have carefully crafted Hate speech laws that have from time to time been shown to have the possibility to be abused by law enforcement. They also need to be updated to reflect the current worlds struggle with extremism from religious and political enities.

Those same laws however, have allowed for us to expel people like Ernst Zundel for teaching hate in our school system and to put everyone on notice that to foster hate against an identifiable person or group is against the law in Canada.

The free speach thing is a valid concern for EVERY country and we up here have wondered how you allowed a complete divergence from your founding principles of rule of law, rights and freedoms with the passage of acts like the Patriot act and the far reaching and rights abrogating functions of your Homeland Security agency. Those two items have taken you into third world dictatorship status in less than one decade.

There is no TSA private contracting agency given the right to body searches without probable cause nor is a private contractor allowed to monitor, restrict, detain and search traffic on our public highways. Accessing of our private or confidential records still requires a warrant be applied for in all cases and not simply because somone, anyone, deemed somone else a threat. We still have the right to face our accuser here in Canada without an agency having the ability to detain us indefinitely without charge.

How did you folks let your fear after 9/11 be stoked to the extent you willingly gave up your freedoms in ALL things, not just that of freedom of speach? We have all endured terrorist attacks. We have not all resorted to the measures that reduce your rights and freedoms making a veritable mockery of the principles your country was founded upon.

On topic: that which you refer to as disgusting is considered by many to be a forward approach to enlightening youth to the very normal human condition known as social/sexual intercourse.

May you also enjoy your Sunday.
