According to my analysis, not so many. I questioned Florida as being part of the South as it is in many ways not so southern. More are actually in the Southwest. How about the rest of the list?

Ah, picking and choosing what is considered "south" and what is not.

Kind of odd that mid-atlantic and Pacific coast states don't really rack 'em up much.

Public schools are terrible in the south. Therefore, there is a demand for private schools, which will tend to have more intelligent, motivated students.

Homeschooled students in the South also tend to be more educated than public school Northerners, for the same reason.

And here's another list

Best High Schools Rankings | Top High Schools | US News

Lots in CA, and the #2 school is in rather liberal and northern (in character) Northern Virginia.

Y'all can politicize anything around here. LOL. Look at this drifting into a blue state vs red state fight. Don't laugh, you know its coming!

High school ranking are even more dubious to me than college rankings, and that is saying something because I hate college rankings.
