Yet, Joseph Thomas, despite referring to himself as a "terrorist" and member of the Aryan Liberation Front, is not being prosecuted on terrorism charges.

Now, if he was named Yusuf Abdullah and threatened to attack an embassy, I wonder if prosecutors would charge him only on drug and weapons charges...

Mark Pitcavage, director of investigative research for the Anti-Defamation League, which tracks extremist groups nationwide, said weapons charges are common in such cases because it's hard for prosecutors to prove terror charges based on someone's planning.

"In my 18 years of having tracked extremists, I think that weapons charges are among the most sure to stick," he said. "Weapons charges are pretty common among most major right wing extremist movements because they love guns."
Whatever they get him on, I hope he's gone for a long one.

I hope so too.

But this raises the question - why don't we bust Islamic terrorists on weapons charges instead of resorting to military tribunals and all sorts of constitutionally questionable measures?

I believe the military tribunals are for foreign nationals.
We haven't sent any US citizens, arrested on US soil, to Gitmo.

And thankfully with section 621 of the NDAA blocked by a federal district court justice, we won't.

Somehow, if Joseph Thomas had been a white Canadian citizen I don't think he'd be sent to a military tribunal...

LOLS at them using the ADL as a reputable source. Give me a break. Guy doesn't sound real bright blabbing his mouth about this supposed attack.

If you doubt the ADL's reliability as a source, do you think they are equally disreputable when it comes to Muslims accused of terrorism?

My problem with the ADL is when they try to smear opponents of Zionism as being antisemites, and their complicity in blacklisting Jewish academics who oppose Zionism. I don't have a problem with them going after self-proclaimed "Aryans"

That's because the ADL is run and funded by jewish supporters...Of course they are going to call anyone who is against anything close to being jewish as anti semites. They are a joke.

Being labeled anything by the ADL is a badge of honor as I see it.
