The two issues have nothing to do with each other but both are gaining acceptance. Lots of somewhat conservative people who oppose gay marriage support legalization of marijuana because they feel the prohibition of a largely harmless drug is idiotic. A lot of people who support gay marriage ignorantly oppose legalization because Reagan era propaganda convinced them its dangerous. Both are a matter of time except outside the South which generally has to be dragged kicking and screaming out of idiocy by national laws or court decisions.

I think our for-profit prison system is part of the problem too. They sure don't want to close prisons, which would happen since many prisons are full of petty offenders, and the prisons have a powerful lobby. Just another perversion of justice due to our system that refuses to control greed, which must be done because given the chance humans are naturally greedy. Big parma too, what would happen to them when everyone realizes this drug that grows like a weed can be used to replace many of their products? They just can't let it happen. Look at Obama, he talked big before the election, then folded like a card table under the pressure of the system.

Very true, and let's not forget the paper industry lobbying the government to ban it, because they stood to lose a lot of money.

Hopefully. There's really no good reason for pot to be illegal.

To the prison industry, and to Big Pharma, I say oh well! Too F'n bad! Prison is meant for the truly evil doers in society, such as murderers, rapists, pedophiles, or those that commit other violent crimes! As for Big Pharma, half the s*** that they're peddling is more dangerous than marijuana could ever be!

I want a country where two married gay folks can legally smoke all the MJ they want. Just like all the straight married folk as well as all singles, cohabiters, celibates or any other relationships.

“Here is my final point. About drugs, about alcohol, about pornography and smoking and everything else. What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, say, think, who I ****, what I take into my body - as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet?” - Bill Hicks
