While the guy shouldn't have done what he did...the other guy is the one that decided to commit suicide over the incident.
Seems like the charges are pretty heavy handed out of appeasment.
For a first offense something like this should fetch probation, community service and education.
Totally agree. There was a chance he could have gotten 10 years in jail. I'm glad that didn't happen, but even 30 days seems like too much. In fact, I think ANY prison time for this so-called crime is too much.
His punishment is the guilt he'll have for the rest of his life (imo). I know he didn't kill the guy but it's his fault for causing the pain and embarassment the student felt after knowing everyone saw his personal business.
What should he be remorseful for? He didn't kill him.
Let me understand you. You think that this young man should only feel remorse if he killed someone? There's no reason to feel remorse for causing someone so much misery that that person committed suicide? Nice moral code you've got there.
And, no, I don't think jail time is appropriate. I think maybe some community service, helping people rather than picking up garbage.

For a normal person, I would agree with you.
However, he doesn't think he did anything wrong and feels no remorse.
No remorse, no guilt.
I watched almost the entire thing today; after the judge gave him the 30 days his lawyer said something to him and he could not supress a grin (behind his hands).
He deserves the 30 days, in my opinion. Maybe he will learn to respect others a little more...
