What is the point of working so many hours? Some of us are paid salary and for the ones that work 40+ on the hourly basis, they get taxed more! So it doesnt make sense money wise and free time wise.

Why cant americans simply adopt a 30 hour work week and have more time off to enjoy life? Why cant we be like europe?
40 hours isn't a lot. Our forefathers had a reason to complain (60+ hours a week). Even with traffic and an unpaid lunch break, a person still has at least 5 hours a day to do whatever they want plus the weekends.

The only things that American employers should adopt are increased vacation time and guaranteed insurance.

Quality of life is only off balance because you let it be off balance. My quality of life is just fine. I don't see why yours can't be either.

The perfect answer is a 3 1/2 day 42 hour week consisting of 3 12 hour days plus one 6 hour day interlaced with a second shift for the rest of the time. That way the PCs would be manned 24/7 and the owners would be very pleased.
I don't know about the rest of you, however I've been working 3 days a week, 12.5 hr shifts, with 4 days off every week, for the past 15+ years.

Yep look at the shape 30 hour work weeks and six weeks of vacation and two years of maternity leave and on and on have gotten some of the euro countries in.

He why not a 20hr work week?? Or ten hours?? Or hell how bout no work and let the government pay for everything I do? Many choose that route already to begin with.

One has to wonder if that is based upon the longer work week though.
