The problem for many was city owned pools. We built ours just a few years ago. There is a ramp on one end and a lift on the other. The city was told that wasn't good enough, there must be three access points. An incredibly stupid requirement which is why the requirement was "delayed" as in, it's never going to be enforced.
I'm sure somewhere in this thread it was noted that this was nothing more than a payoff for lawyers. The administration had no clue how large the backlash would become.
It's a great example of what can happen when you simply tell the government "no" when it comes to asinine regulations.
These guidelines were put in place by W. If your pool was built within the last 10 years they should have consulted with the ADA at that time about the requirements.

Accessible Swimming Pools and Spas "Whenever any barrier stands between you and the full rights and dignity of citizenship, we must work to remove it, in the name of simple decency and justice. The promise of the ADA...has enabled people with disabilities to enjoy much greater access to a wide range of affordable travel, recreational opportunities and life-enriching services."
President George W. Bush, New Freedom Initiative, February 1, 2001
The guidelines described in this guide focus on newly designed or newly constructed and altered swimming pools, wading pools, aquatic recreation facilities, and spas. Other provisions contained in ADAAG address elements commonly found at a swimming facility, such as accessible vehicle parking spaces, exterior accessible routes, and toilet and bathing facilities. ADAAG addresses only the built environment (structures and grounds); the guidelines do not address operational issues. Questions regarding operational issues should be directed to the Department of Justice, 1-800-514-0301 or 1-800-514-0383 (TTY).

I've been clear that I believe that the Bush administration was a failed administration. We then have had Obama following in his footsteps.

I do give credit to the Bushes (father and son) for their defense of the rights of Americans with disabilities - a segment of the voting population Democrats have largely and inexplicably ignored.

No that one I just forgot the 'e' - thanks! I know - I am idiot - right?
LOL, I have no problem admitting when I made a mistake. My three was me recalling a conversation about the local pool and whether or not one lift was going to be compliant.
The local pool has a large ramped entrance which is seems will likely be something the government will end up approving as good enough.
