bad news for freedom. good news for poor uneducated Americans who want a handout and a pat on the head.
The "libearals" are not winning. This is part of the problem. Instead of focusing on the education that we need to match the fields that are growing, we are still stuck with our antiquated notions of education. We need at least post high school vocational training. However, due to the very conservative belief that education is not a right nor an entitlement, we put up barriers that make it harder for the poor to receive a post secondary education of any sort. Community college funding is waning. Tuition is skyrocketing. State funding for universities and colleges is dropping. Why? Typically conservatives balance budgets on the back of education. Providing equal access is the name of the game. Equal access is not the same as equality. Equality implies that everyone need not work hard and everyone will be at the same level. Equal access implies that everyone should be able to work at the same level to achieve the same results (the harder you work, you more you receive despite your background).

This society is driven by economic class distinctions even more than race. This is holding us down by its failure to educate children of all races and class to the best of their ability.

The educational differences in this country are not accidental. They are the result of policy set at the highest levels of society and government.

that is utter bull and you know it.

LIBERALS have a deathgrip on education in this country. YOUR SIDE has been in utter control for 30 years and we are reaping the results.

this is a 100% failure of the left. YOU OWN EDUCATION and you have failed.... well failed from OUR perspective. I think from the perspective of the liberal elete this is success. dumbed down society will take whatever handouts their lords and masters on the left dish out.

Education is the key to keeping the unwashed masses on the plantation. Liberals love their plantations.

that is nothing but junk. Liberals have controled education in this country for 30 years!

Conservatives have NEVER opposed education. NEVER. It is the liberals who have blocked allowing tax dollars to follow the child thus giving poor kid the option to exit the public school system and go to private or even better public schools. LIBERALS.

75% of young American adults are ineligible for military service due to:
A). Being too fat
B). Criminal records
C). But mostly for being too dumb to pass our military's laughably easy educational thresholds and or testing.

Our black and Latino youth are disproportionately responsible for the state of failure listed above.

Regarding the military ASVAB test..........
As part of a psychology class in college I took a version of the ASVAB, trust me it's easy. The ISEE test that local 8th graders take for admittance into private high schools is orders of magnitude more difficult. And we have legions of HS grads and GED holders who cannot pass the ASVAB.

The CFR paper more or less concludes that the embarrassing state of educational failure by our youth is nothing short of a national security problem. I've maintained as much for years.

Generally, we are fostering a persistent educationally segregated underclass.

So how do we turn the tide?
Unfortunately....this is no longer your father's USA.

Conservatives push for ineffective charter schools. Studies show that charters schools do not raise test scores. Conservatives are more likely to support measures that DECREASE education funding for universities and are less likely to support financial aid measures. Really pro-education there...

Several states are just starting to utilize charter schools. I'm quite sure the data will prove you wrong and the students will benefit greatly. When the students are educated, everybody wins.

Evidently we are supposed to be happy or indifferent to the coming demographic changes. More diversity!!! Yet we are not increasing the right kind of minorities and this ship will inevitably sink or break apart as a result.
