Yea, i'm stupid enough to take that case and extrapolate that over the whole country.
That same scene happened in every classroom in Arizona today. You'll be reading about it tomorrow on Drudge. SMH
C'mon. You've been reading these boards long enough to know this is far from an isolated example of the propaganda and misinformation that is spewed at our kids everyday all over the country. I'd post some more examples but I have an errand to run right now.
I didn't know there was a big financial hit to be taken by moving from one Section 8 building to another in a different part of town.
Of course unions don't want competition and neither does the Socialist/Marist agenda being taught in the schools.
Civil right, no. I've paid far too much money to a failed school district in which I don't even have children. I am voting with my feet and moving. If the inner-city wants to continue to sh*t in their front yard by taking a "no snitch" policy on gangs, drugs and murder, they won't be getting my property tax dollars for their schools.
Atlas shrugs one taxpayer at a time.
Not sure exactly what you mean here. We all pay the taxes anyway, including property and federal. No way to escape it. Why not get a better return?

You should spend ALL of your time running errands instead of posting this nonsense.
Count me as someone that simply doesn't believe in failing schools. I believe there are failing and apathetic kids and parents. You can walk into any classroom in the country in any so called "failing district," and if the kids are sitting there ready to learn, the teacher will teach.
It's as simple as that.
Well, in many schools there simply aren't the classes to get a quality education. One of my high schools didn't even have a Calculus class. It also didn't have an Anatomy and Physiology class offered. I'm sure there were others, but the level of education was so terrible I had to go back to my zoned school. Also, I had many teachers who did not teach. My teacher in Honors History (yes Honors) spent class talking about football most days. It was either that or how evil Bush was (World History, not even American History.)
NJ's urban districts spend over $18,000 per student.
If you take a look at all of the so-called administrative positions (and their salaries) it's obvious that giving their educrats even more to spend will do nothing "for the children".

Other states may vary.
We spend much less than that in California, but more money isn't going to solve any problems.

On this, I agree with you.
The Parents HAVE to motivate the kids.
BUT, by the same token, we need to get discipline back into the schools also.

I agree. I think school choice might help. What do you think might help?
Take a small conservative rural Texas town. One school. All the kids go there, all the kids.
One teacher for each subject per grade. Got the picture.
You still end up with the same statistics.....
-most of the kids on free/reduced lunch are minorities
-most of the kids failing the state tests are minorities
-most of the kids who think school is one big recess and suspension is a day off at Grandma's are minorities
It's not your segregated inner city schools. It's not your unions. It's not your bad teachers.
It's not lack of funding.
The problem is OUTSIDE of the school system and there is nothing the government can do about it.
