Of course, there's always more to the story than FOX and the 9 Google pages of right-wing websites are "reporting" on this. They nearly all parrot the original post in this thread, word for word, so the RWNJ rumor mill is working just like it's supposed to. And, naturally, they nearly all blame Obama for it as if he sits around the Oval Office all day micromanaging every federal office in the country.
But, be that as it may, here's a few things FOX and their teet suckers aren't telling you.
1. Jennifer Braly is a transgendered activist who has crossed swords with the University of Arkansas before over issues such as housing. A couple of weeks ago, he/she was supposed to make a presentation on transgender issues to a class, but the university cancelled it. To Braly and his/her fellow traveler's, it was part of a conspiracy by the university to silence transgendered people, so they got up a petition.
2. The university has unisex bathrooms all over campus, as do most institutes of higher learning. Braly's complaint is that there wasn't one in the building where he/she had a class, so he/she demanded the right to use the women's bathroom because female is the gender he/she identifies with. It looks like a manufactured issue as retaliation for having his/her presentation cancelled.
3. The university offered to build more unisex bathrooms and some other things not reported, but Jennifer went ahead and filed a complaint with the Justice Department anyhow. Once again, it seems that he/she deliberately set out to create a confrontation with the university and nothing they proposed was going to be adequate. In fact, the university did not know he/she had filed the complaint until a letter from the DOJ arrived in their mailbox.
4. The university asked it's legal counsel for advice. They recommended to just go ahead and let him/her use the women's bathroom. Why they recommended that is not known because the contents of the DOJ letter have not been revealed by anybody. Consequently, there is no way to determine what DOJ actually said or what laws they referenced. Arkansas does not have a specific transgender law in place and neither does the federal government, though some aspects of the American's With Disabilities Act are presumed to apply in this situation.
Consequently, y'all are just blowing massive amounts of smoke and laying "blame" where it might not lie. Without knowing what was in the letter, or what laws they may have referenced, or why the university's lawyers counseled giving in, you're just building conspiracy theories out of thin air.
But, who cares, right? It's got Obama's name attached to it so it MUST be absolutely true and a sign of the coming apocalypse he's planning for his second term!
Jeez...y'all are worse than lemmings. At least lemming hurl themselves off a cliff voluntarily. Y'all are dumb enough to be LED off the cliff!
As President, i'd completely defund and gut the Office of Civil Rights within the Department of Justice. The circus it has become is not worthy of taxpayer sacrifice.
This dude/dudette is just obsessed with a single issue and is giving live meaning by making up stuff to feel like s/he is doing important work. We've all seen it before with different people and different issues.

ROFL- great post. Unfortunately for you Obama supporters it changes absolutely nothing about anything that's been discussed in the thread. Nice try though....

Yes but he/she got the DOJ to act on his/her behalf.
That just gives him/her more incentive to keep pushing for more "rights".
While I understand that as of now the person in question is physically a male, if they have honest to goodness GID, can prove such, and is about to go through SRS, they should be allowed in a women's restroom.
If they have a history of sexual harrasment, that's a nother thing completely.
It is just sickening what Obama has been doing lately.... THE SICKEST PART ABOUT IT IS HOW MANY ARE FALLING FOR THIS AND THINKING HE IS SOME GREAT PERSON!
War on women?
