How Obama moves the needle on gay marriage - The Washington Post
Quote:
The Post-ABC poll showed support for gay marriage in the black community jumping from around 41 percent to 59 percent. Despite the small sample size of that demographic in the poll, that is a statistically significant shift.
And PPP’s polling backs it up.
In its Maryland poll, support for the gay marriage law in the African-American community increased from 39 percent to 55 percent in just two months. And the same pollster has found similar shifts among black voters in Pennsylvania and North Carolina in recent weeks — the latter which passed a gay marriage ban right before Obama changed his position.
The sample size in any of these four polls isn’t enough to draw broad conclusions; we cannot stress that enough. But the fact that all the polls all show roughly the same thing suggests strongly that Obama’s shift on this issue has translated broadly to the black community.

Oh come now, surely you don't believe this? No matter what the polls say, it's a bunch of hooey, but it hardly matters, since obama gets almost 100% of blacks anyway.

I love how the writer stresses the sample size isn't large enough to draw broad conclusions, and then draws a broad conclusion in the very next sentence.

We don't need no stinkin' polls. Screw the blacks, Latino's and women. Us old white guy's don't need data, we go by gut feelings.

Yup, Blacks are lemming voters, by and large.

Edward, I realize you are a Black man who is very critical of blacks. But, please be fair about it. Most people regardless of their race are lemmings. Whites and Asians also tend for the most part to agree with whatever their pop hero says. It's not a Black thing, it's a human thing.
Hell, if even a quarter of the people on this planet weren't cattle, there would be no government at all because they wouldn't tolerate being under thumb.
If 40 years ago I had understood the malleable nature of the general population as I do now, I would be the supreme despot ruler of this half of the globe.

If Obama announced next week that he made a mistake about being for same sex marriage and was really against it, the 'needle on gay marriage' would immediately revert back to what it was previously in the black community. If Obama referred to the sky as being 'green', you can bet that the black community would be reffering to the sky as being 'green'.

So the majority of Blacks in Maryland suddenly support SSM? I sure would like to buy that. Sixteen percent jump in how long? If only they would actually vote that way...
