I grew up half black in the ghetto...and I never got anyone pregnant, never joined a gang, never did an illegal drug in my life (I can't get past the nasty smell of marijuana) have some college education and have a decent job. In other words, I "escaped" the ghetto.
Now, my question is this: if I could do it, why the hell can't they? Those ghetto slime balls need no further help than they already have. So, let me ask you this, Calipoppy: What is so different from me and the other ghetto people of color that I got out and they didn't?...
And please, don't dare say it is because I'm half white. I have heard racialists say the same thing and I can't stand it. I know several dark skinned Africans from the motherland who are indeed my intellectual superiors.
Good for you. I am glad that you were able to escape from your childhood background of a depressed socioeconomic environment. Honestly, I am happy for you and hope that you continue your education.
However, your disdain for others who were in your predicament (or worse) is inexcusable. I could be a snob and look down my nose at you because my family has been educated and successful for several generations....is it fair for me to say to you, "Why weren't your family members successful if mine were, we are all Black right? Why were my ancestors able to obtain college educations during the late 1800s and yours were not? It would be unfair for me to assume that your family was lazy and mine was not.
I could also say to you, "Why don't you have a Master's degree? Why don't you have a PhD? If others can obtain their Master's and PhDs, why haven't you? Does that mean that you are lazy? Does that mean that you are just another Black person who does not value higher education? Does that make you a thug?
Would it be fair for me to say to you, "My parents put my brother and I through private school, why didn't yours?" "My family owns a great deal of real estate, why doesn't yours?" "My great grandfather was able to procure property in the Jim Crow South while other Blacks were sharcroppers, why weren't your ancestors able to do the same?" etc, etc....would that be fair to you?
You really need to take a step back and think about your indictment of the entire population of Black Americans because from where I stand, you have not accomplished very much yourself despite having just as much access as I or anyone else has to it.
You have stepped only one meagerly planted foot out of the ghetto and then have the audacity to turn around berating from whence you have come. You have a very long way to go before you should even deign to judge others. Accomplish something first before you throw rocks from your glass house.

No one stays on welfare for decades, Clinton ended that.
Corporate welfare is one thing that's trashing the economy. Farm subsidies for agro-industry, water subsidies for agro-industry, getting paid NOT to grow certain crops, tax-free land for Wal-Mart to build its stores on, not to mention tax evasion by all the corporations. Whites by far, to an astronomical degree, collect more welfare than any other group. The only difference is the White welfare queens were suits and ties, and have cushy investment accounts.
Like so many American blacks, I have a feeling that, if they have children, they will name them "Rashonda," "Darius" and some other ghetto trash name...then, when they don't get called for an interview, blame it on "racism"

I once met a mixed girl who was made fun of by black people all the time for her name growing up. She got older and still, she heard black people wondering why this black girl had a "white" name. And what oh what was her "lily white-girl name?"

And they wonder why society doesn't respect them.
Want to give your kid a black name? Why not Nelson (Mandela), Frederick (Douglass), Alexander (Dumas) Rosa (Parks) Josephine (Baker) etc...I mean really, how many "Jamals" and "Lashondas" have made history?

Okay, if a boss sees a name on a resume that says "Jebediah McGee" or "Zachary Flint," would he be racist for saying "no way am I hiring trailer trash"?

Another red flag is a Spanish last name or even 1 that just "looks" Spanish.
Bottom line...immigrants are hungry and work hard to succeed. Americans are entitled and lazy....just ask our black president.

Anyone can work hard and succeed. Many immigrants are hungry and are willing to work hard. It could be that they came from a country that is not so tv focused and or that they simply grew up working hard.

The parts in bold I highly agree with. As for the last part, I will say the average poor American lives much better than poor people in other countries.

My personal solution: kill welfare. There is nothing like rewarding a single, crack addicted mother of 5 with free money. The road to hell, paved with good intentions.
I agree. Then all the white people, who are the majority users of welfare, can figure out how else they will feed their children.
Oh wait that would never happen. This is the same country where white people on welfare = temporarily down on their luck, and just need a helping hand; minorities on welfare = RAMPANT FRAUD AND ABUSE.
