They represent a significant quarter and like it or not are the "face" of African Americans. Their music dominates, their leaders are some of the wealthiest in the African Americans. their films are number #1, political leaders seek their favor.
I challenge you to find a subculture in the African American community that is more dominant than the hoodrat, hiphop culture.

Are you representative of some African child starving in a refugee camp? Are you representative of a rogue African warlord? Are you representative of a witchdoctor who advocates the raping of virgins to cure AIDS?
Very few places in Africa actually have the endless wars and all that...and it was NEVER witchdoctors who advocated raping virgins to cure AIDS! That was just a old wives tale that only the most idiotic actually believed in South Africa.
The only time White Americans like Africans is when they are pitting them against African Americans to incite a rivalry. Under any other circumstances, they have nothing positive to say about African history (its not taught in most schools and they are still portrayed as primitive) or the continent.
As presented in university African History courses, it's not portrayed as primitive at all. A variety of advanced civilizations is discussed, as well as the effect of colonialism.

My viewpoint is based on stats not anecdotes such as yours. African- Americans are most likely to be unemployed, incarcerated, foreclosed upon and woefully under educated how exactly are they at the table?
Why are you treating stats like zero-sum games. We know that Blacks are on the losing side of these interracial comparative stats, but what % of Blacks make up that losing side?
The way you paint this narrative, you have as much chance of being robbed by Black man as meeting one w/ a job. You know that's not true, but you choose to present this narrative b/c it suits your agenda. At the end of the day, the vast majority of Blacks have NOT committed violent crimes, are NOT unemployed, are NOT financially insolvent. You don't even have an argument for playing the odds loosely to assume that a random Black meets these characteristics.
So what do your stats show? Out of a 1000 people of the same race, how many MORE Blacks are guilty of whatever than other races. And then let us know how many Blacks are NOT guilty of that same crime.

I'm learning that some people are going to keep on judging and hating on African-Americans. People like you and me can try and keep educating them on their error and try to change them, but some people aren't going to listen. Just like with the people who embrace "ghetto mentality and culture", it is the same for unapologetic racist persons. All we can do for now is educate them and inform them that they are wrong. It is up to the person to change.
It's pretty simple why. Those that came over typically were middle class in their home country. They had the means to pay the several thousand dollars to cross the Atlantic and start a new life in the US. Africans in America are middle class/upper middle class Africans. It really has little to nothing to do with culture. I really don't understand why people link it to hip-hop, etc. There is hip-hop in Africa (just like in Asia). It's really a matter of socioeconomics in this case.
With that said, Africans in America make less than their White or Asian counterparts with the same education. So a racial component still exists.
The very people you despise are not the ones holding you down my friend. Think about who is in power. Think about you who you are trying to impress/appease with these mannerisms. You can dress in fancy suites, drive a 2013 Jaguar and speak with perfect diction.
GUESS WHAT. You'll still be followed around in a department store. Hate black america all you want. If everyone in these here United States treated everyone based on Merit, you wouldn't have to go out of your way to impress. You're going out of your way to be a shining example of the next generation mulatto™, a magical negro if you will. Your efforts are being thoroughly wasted. If you want to change the influences the influences of those in your circle, do so, but if you think you're going to change a world that's set in it's ways, longing to differentiate "us" from "them", you've got a long road ahead of you.
He is right and if blacks and their culture keep heading in the same direction, it will crash and burn.
