Many straight women love gay men. Good looking, smart, successful, and they don't have to worry about getting hit on. As Hammer said, there are often as many straight women as there are gay men at those clubs.
Bartenders/dancers at gay clubs are usually very attractive and fun to be around. Why wouldn't your typical straight woman want some eye candy during a night on the town with their gay friends?
And no worries about getting hit on while they are out for a night with the girls. Since it's West Hollywood they can probably find another gay bar who would welcome them.
Well the Abbey is the least gay bar in WeHo. It used to be very gay, then the hetero's took over because it was hip and trendy. Once it got bought out by a corp it changed drastically - higher prices, more celebutards and very, very heterosexual. Yes there is still a large clientele that is gay, but name a place in WeHo that doesn't have that.
Because it's national news, it's controversial considering the people involved want to limit the rights of others because they can't have what they want.
Since when is it a right to have a party in a privately owned business?
I suppose it might have been a good spot for a bachelorette party, because the girls could check out the hot dancers and drink and have fun without getting into flirtations because all the guys there wouldn't be interested in taking them home.

Which is exactly why many straight women LOVE gay bars, and us gays love to have them there too.

Doesn't have anything to do with rights, it's got to do with people taking away the privilege of having a party in a location because gay marriage isn't legal.
That's discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Lesbians can still have their bachelorettes there.
I don't know of any clubs or restaurants in Los Angeles that heteros primarily frequent where gays can't go and also have their parties.
If this bar wishes to bar bachelorette parties, it's their right. Maybe not such a good business decision since that part of their business clientele will just go elsewhere to spend their money. Their loss is someone else's gain.
Yes very sad.... Who cares if it isnt, let them have thier parties!
