Rodney King might have been a miserable thug, but the cops should not have beaten him the way they did. And when the cops were found Not Guilty, a lot of people got very angry.
If Zimmerman is found Not Guilty, what will happen? (Not Guilty of either 2nd degree murder, or of manslaughter). His defense is that he was exercising Self Defense. If the jury accepts that, they might find him Not Guilty of anything at all.
Now at least one witness has testified in court, that during the fight Zimmerman was on his back with Trayvon on top of him whaling away. That lends credence to the idea that Zimmermann was simply defending himself when he pulled out his gun and shot Trayvon. But does it "prove" it?
How many people will accept the Self Defense idea?
How many will flatly reject it, regardless of what witnesses say? How many people will remain convinced that Zimmerman followed Martin because Martin was black and Zimmerman wasn't, and so Zimmerman deserved ANYTHING Martin did to him, and should be found Guilty of 2nd degree murder as a result?
Will there be riots, if Zimmerman is found Not Guilty?

I hope not. The Floridian Cuban & Puerto Rican communities are worried that if Zimmerman is acquitted/not guilty, then it will be a riot there. Much of my father's side of the family (from PR) live in that area and they are talking about this possibility. Will this just be a Hispanic vs African American thing or will Hispanics be considered "white" and then make this an even larger scale of animousity? What about those Hispanics that are half-African descent (or more)? So many things can factor in as to who goes crazy if they don't get the verdict they want.
No, but I will double my efforts for better gun control so people like him cannot get guns.
Why would that be? So the next time he is the victim of a violent assault, he ends up dead? Maybe what I said about Zimmerman-haters was overly optimistic.
I sure hope there is not any violence in the streets over this. I think Zimmerman is a bit of a kook but not a murderer. Zimmerman's neighborhood was being targeted by thieves and thugs so he had just cause to find out what this kid was up to and it would have been a different trial if Travon had grabbed the gun instead of the other way around. I still feel bad for Travon's parents or any parent who has a juvenile delinquent for a child.
