I support women registering for the Selective Service. Not to be vindictive, but to remind those who fight for equal opportunity that equal opportunity doesn't stop where that opportunity becomes inconvenient or uncomfortable. Either you want equal opportunity, or you don't. It's not a two way street.

Oy vey.
Go read some history on the role of women in the armed services and get back to us.
kthanksbye.

Every woman can serve her country at home, and even in the military performing critical support roles if she desires. But it's the duty of any civilized country to defend women and children from violence. A country that sends its daughters and mothers into battle has lost it's primary reason for fighting in the first place.

I'm sure the Israeli's will change their policies regarding women in combat tout suite upon reading this.

"Equal opportunity" is only legitimate as applied to equal things. Men and women are not equally suited when it comes to warfare. A feminized fighting force degrades them both.

Since men are penalized for not registering with Selective Service, the fact that women don't have to gives them an unfair advantage.

My issue is that of principle. I don't necessarily relish the idea of women fighting wars, but in a nation where women make claims about "equal opportunity" not working in their favor, we should acknowledge those claims and make them all-encompassing to everyone. It doesn't strike me as logical to grant women the ability to fight as combat troops but not force them to register with Selective Service. If women want equal oppotunity, then they should be willing to embrace everything that comes with it, not just those things that seem appealing. Afterall, how many men do you know who actually like being registered for a draft? Not many, i'm sure, but that inconvenience doesn't mean he shouldn't have to register. The same should apply to women since they've fought tooth and nail to fight on the front lines.
