A local farmer up here got busted for 6 plants a few yrs ago.
Make a long story short , a cop went to his house , knocked on the front door , got no answer. Walked thru a gate around to the back of the house where he saw 6 plants growing. Went back with a warrent and arrested the man.
Farmer took it to the NH supreme court and won. Court ruled when the cop got no answer he had no right to go thru gate to rear of house.
That win cost the farmer $150,000 . I buy all my veggies from him as I feel he fought the fight for all of us.
The cop and the judge who gave the warrant should have been fired.
Good point!! Anyone and everyone that gets charged with marijuana charges should stop taking a "deal" from prosecutors and ask for jury trials. Jury nullification!!!!
I can assure you that if I'm ever on a weed jury I will find the defendant "not guilty" without even giving it a thought.
Portugal saw a sharp increase in property crime and homicide as a result on the legislation, while other European counties did not see an increase. That is a fact that any country who considers legalizing needs to take a hard look at.

While you are looking, consider this;
"Judging by every metric, decriminalization in Portugal has been a resounding success," says Glenn Greenwald, an attorney, author and fluent Portuguese speaker, who conducted the research. "It has enabled the Portuguese government to manage and control the drug problem far better than virtually every other Western country does."
Compared to the European Union and the U.S., Portugal's drug use numbers are impressive. Following decriminalization, Portugal had the lowest rate of lifetime marijuana use in people over 15 in the E.U.: 10%. The most comparable figure in America is in people over 12: 39.8%. Proportionally, more Americans have used cocaine than Portuguese have used marijuana.
Because me growing weed in my back yard is neither Interstate nor Inter-nation commerce. In fact, it's not commerce at all.
But it does not stay in your State. When it crosses State or International borders it falls under Congress' authority to regulate. If all marijuana were restricted to only those States that grow, produce, and consume marijuana you could tell Congress to go take a flying leap, because they would not have any constitutional authority. However, we know that is not the case. Marijuana from Mexico, and numerous US States, finds its way all over the country. Thus giving Congress the constitutional authority to regulate the product.
"A mother in Arizona left her 5-week-old baby on top of her car and drove away, not even noticing when the seat and the baby fell off in the middle of an intersection. Fortunately the baby was uninjured and was later found by neighbors still strapped into his safety seat, according to ABC. Catalina Clouser, the infant’s 19-year-old mother who had allegedly been smoking marijuana, was arrested for charges of child abuse and driving under the influence. She reportedly drove a dozen miles before realizing her baby was missing, states The Tucson Citizen."

Percent of persons 12 years of age and over with marijuana use in the past month: 6.6% (2009)
In the meanwhile in Portugal after the legalization: Reported lifetime use of "all illicit drugs" increased from 7.8% to 12%, lifetime use of cannabis increased from 7.6% to 11.7%, cocaine use more than doubled, from 0.9% to 1.9%, ecstasy nearly doubled from 0.7% to 1.3%, and heroin increased from 0.7% to 1.1%
This is not very encouraging.....I may have no other choice but to withdraw my support for legislation in US.
