The SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)/Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed The Animals." They say that this is because the animals may grow dependent on handouts and not learn to take care of themselves.

So you'd rather people starving in the street and a massive increase in the crime rate as people steal for food. There's no cost to either of that is there now.
There are plenty of reasons why you don't feed animals in a park. Safety and the health of the animals being two big ones.
And when the bears and other animals don't get fed they are free to do what? Wander off in nature and hunt and gather at will -- which activity they are well suited for even in today's human dominated world and which diet they are still entirely well adapted to thrive on and which diet they are perfectly content to enjoy.
Humans on the other hand? Well, silly me ... people can live out of others' garbage cans! (Or be arrested for trying to live free, hunting and gathering.) (Oh wait, they can be arrested for raiding garbage too ... hmmm.)
Monsanto and General Mills and brethren company -- and their kin in the world of finance and pharmaceuticals and manufacturing -- pretty much control society. That's why you have free meals and food stamps ... and why those free meals and food stamps are for foodstuffs that create addictive, unhealthy dependencies ... both physical and mental.

This has to be one of the sickest, saddest posts I've read lately. Yes, people who are on food assistance programs are wild animals. Why don't we just put them all in cages or, better yet, shoot them?
