I don't mean this in an offensive way at all, and I'm simply trying to get information. Others can set the record straight for me.
What I'm wondering is do you think for men coming out as gay, that they have to reject a male cultural that is defined as gay being taboo? It seems to me like a lot of gay men really consider themselves one of the guys, but you really can't be both, so they live in denial. The guys that everyone knows to be gay are those that don't act like one of the guys. For example, when women talk of their "gay male friend," they're talking about a companion to go shopping with and to shows and things like that, not someone who is going to watch football and drink beer like a straight guy would. I don't think this is true for women because lesbianism isn't considered taboo, and bisexuality in some ways is encouraged (because guys find it hot .)

So - what does everyone think about this?
Sounds like a lot of generalizing. Most gays are not feminine or flamboyant. Not all gays have a sense of fashion. Plenty of gay guys like football and beer.
95% of gay men you would not know unless they told you. They do not hit on straight males. Not all of them flaunt it in public to make a spectacle of themselves (which is their right if they so choose)

Gay people, in my experience, are just like the rest of us in that they're all different. I know lesbians who act the same as straight women, gay men who act the same as straight men, lesbian women who are kind of butch and gay men who are really, extremely gay.
You're probably thinking about it too much. As for watching football, where I live, everyone I know does that and most everyone drinks beer too.
Lots of gay men drink beer, even the cheap "manly" brands, and many watch football too - hey wait a second, they even PLAY football sometimes! Wow, imagine that. They can also be friends with straight males, as my straight baseball-playing brother can attest to (his best male friend is gay). Just as not all straight guys are into beer, football & farts, not all gay men are opposed to those things. Heck, one of my BGFs can chug a beer in seconds, and then fart the room empty.
Generalize much? Even Jerry Falwell would say your stereotypes are tired, LOL.
