It appears the new Chevy Volt will get 38 miles on a full 10.5 hour charge in the new model instead of the outdated 35 miles per charge before. Whew that sets my mind at ease. Global warming should be a problem no more.

I've got nothing against the technology, and would buy one to save some fuel money...if they sold for $16k or so. For $40k, I'll take a Camaro SS or something else that's enjoyable to drive.

Honestly, I would like a VW diesel. Had a diesel pickup, amazing performance and mileage for a 7000 lb rig. I wish Vdub or someone else had a diesel available in a mid-sized 4x4.

So do I. I set out to buy a truck but I do not need to be able to pull a building or want to put gas in at 17 mpg.

I have too much snow and too many miles of gravel road for a car, at least a non-AWD/4x4. Given that my 7000lb Dodge knocked down 22-23 mpg, it seems like with proper gearing and a focus on fuel economy a mid-sized 4x4 ought to be able to do 30 with a diesel. I traded the Ram on an Xterra, only to find that it can't top 18 . 85 mile round trip commute, sucks!

Too bad the EPA has declared war on diesels.
A mid sized diesel truck as you note, geared for driving like you do and not simply for hauling a horse trailer should be able to do 30 plus.
I see many people wanting such a truck. For some reason we can't get them. We can get $100,000 electric vehicles though.
BTW, rumor is that Canada might be getting one from VW. Which just makes even less sense that we can't.
