#1 - Many states already give them the right to enter a civil union in which they can show everyone that they love each other, Marriage is between a man, a woman, and God.

#2 - What you see as Christians trying to change people is actually Christians understanding that the only way to not burn in hell is to take Jesus as your Lord and Savior. And to not let other people know about this is just plain wrong. If you knew that walking thru a door would kill someone you would warn them right? That is why we tell you about what is going to happen to you if you keep up your sinful ways.

#3 - Thoughtful and intelligent people usually leave their thoughtfulness and intelligence at the door when arguments like this come up, it is a very emotional topic, and emotion tends to make all humans get somewhat silly.

As a Buddhist, my view is that marriage is between an opposite sex couple (heterosexual) or a same-sex couple (gay) ... and "God" has nothing to do with it. Neither does Buddha. In fact marriages aren't even performed in Buddhist temples.

You see, Buddhism is about 550 years older than Christianity and we have been doing the marriage thing a lot longer than you guys.

Anyway, aren't atheists allowed to marry? I am not talking about the religious ceremony. Churches aren't forced to perform same-sex marriages - not in New York or Massachusetts or Iowa or Connecticut or Washington, DC or Spain or the Netherlands or Argentina or Denmark or Mexico City or any of the other places that have Marriage Equality.

Here in the US you can get married by an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas.

Therefore, marriage is between you, the person you love, and Elvis Presley.

#1 - Gays are simply asking to be treated equally under civil marriage law. Civil marriage is between couples and government. It has nothing whatsoever to do with any deity.

#2,3 - Don't really care. #1 is my concern.

The only people that will burn in hell are the people that believe that it exists so that they can coerce other people with the threat of burning in hell.

How did they go along with homosexuality? Once again, the idea that people were exclusively attracted to members of the same-sex did not exist in those days. The only sexual activity that may have taken place in Sodom was rape of villagers (or in that case, angels). That's not even remotely related to the meaning of homosexuality. I guarantee you almost all of the citizens of sodom were heterosexuals.

One of the great corruptions of Latin and English, since Sodom does not refer to gays.

After telling 'them', your job is done. The choice is now up to them to continue going through the door or not.
They may not agree with you and you can't make them.

seems like some sort of 'Im right, your wrong' drive by the religious homophobes that plays out as 'if we can't convert them, let's make thier life like hell on earth'

None of the marriage laws in the United States say anything about God.

You already have to right to engage in a public ceremony at at an alternative church of your choosing. But understand that Christians don't appreciate when some of you try to change the institution of marriage just to accommodate your selfish desire to receive more government benefits, with no regard for how any other person or thing is affected or harmed in the process.

As long as you get what YOU want, that is all that seems to matter.

Don't expect any thoughtful and intelligent person to respect that.

Erm, since when did marriage become YOUR institution??? If you have problems with people receiving government benefits, you should petition your representative to immediately cut off all government benefits to Christians. I mean, how selfish is that??? By the way, if I believed that you were thoughtful or intelligent, you might have a point. Guess what?

Yet you cried hogwash because you didn't know anything about the subject you were talking about.

Hahahahaha.
Admit it, you're posts are simply fueled on hatred, no logic, reason or facts.
