Thank you - you might take a look at my post (Number 8)
BTW, I withdrew from the Social Security system years ago - I have not paid into it for over 20 years. I can never get Social Security, Medicare, SSI etc
And personally, I have never been happier - I am so much farther ahead than if I had "stayed in" -

I find it interesting that the only party talking about making any kind of changes - to make Social Security solvent, is the Bush Administration -
I wish someone who is "Anti Bush", could tell us, exactly what proposals, if any, have come from the Democrats to reform / fix Social Security?
Anyone?

Oh I'm definately anit bush. The man is an evil moron.
I will tell you how to fix SS..........Have priorties in order. The trillion, billions that we are spending on this war with NO justification should be stopped NOW.
Bush has made a total mess of things in every area of our country. Some people are too stupid to see this.
You would think after 7 years of of the bush administration, this would be apparent.
There is nothing wrong with Social security as long as the goverment stops dipping into it.
Look at the billions they are spending on the war........a war the majority did not want.
Bottom line, the republicans don't give a hoot about the people and vote for cutting programs that benefit the vunerable.I know I dont' a decrease in my income. Do you???????
I worked long and hard for years only now to collect what is rightfully mine.
And how dare they touch this.
So, would you be willing to take back all of the money you've put into it, in one lump sum and desolve SS altogether?
This is nothing new, Social Security has been raped and pillaged by Congress to cover budgets for over fifty years. There were some proposals, sometime this millennium, by some obscure elected official, that would allow citizens to invest some portion of their Social Security deductions in private markets. There was a good deal of push back from Congress.
Again, the insolvency of Social Security is nothing new. Now, we need to find a way to remove it from the control of Congress so the funds can work for us, rather than for them.
If you're blaming Bush for Social Security problems then the real problem is you.
Congress... 535 reasons to support term limits, with NO benefits and NO grandfathering tenure.
I am indeed an evil moron, which makes me an oxymoron, but not an Oxycontin, which would place me inside of the belly of the beast, aka Rush Limbaugh's bloodstream...

OK - but this begs the question: How come the same prediction was made during the Clinton administration? That the Social Security system is going broke?
And, frankly, this issue was brought up before the current Iraq war (2003) - so, I have to say that, IMO, the war is not the issue - it is the Social Security system itself that needs to be revamped - modernized. It is an 19th century system in the 21st century -
