maybe if they were executed within a year of committing the crime it would serve as a better deterrent, instead of endless appeals stretching out 20 years or more.

Even if tried as adults they can't be put to death due to their age.
Just life in prison without parole I believe. Then again I've heard liberals think that is too tough and are trying to change that.
