I am fearful of corporations taking over and corrupting our democracy.
So are we. The trend of "Crony Capitalism", the close alliance and cooperation of Big Government with Big Business is disturbing and is leading to the erosion of our freedoms, on this point it would seem that the left and right agree. The right supports true free market capitalism, with limited government control and regulation. We are firm believers in laissez-faire free enterprise, this is what built America and made it great. However, to demonize all large companies because they make a profit, as the left often does, is distorted logic. Without profit there is no incentive, and without incentive companies vanish, and with them so do the jobs that they once provided. It is not capitalism and corporations that are at fault, it is the fault of those that have distorted and corrupted them that are the culprits.
I am wondering the mindset of the American Conservative. Perpetually outraged, but generally without much justification. He (yes, it is usually a he, but no matter) loathes the moderates in the GOP and has purged them, hates liberals, considers Canadians, Europeans, South Americans, Australians, Kiwis, and most other countries socialist or fundamentally inferior, distrusts science, academics, the global media (except the partisan varieties), can point to no single country in the world that successfully executes his policies, and does not need to travel the world or learn to speak another language to be certain of America's social, moral, and economic superiority, constantly demonizes all the non conservative groups in his own country, and generally gets all worked up and played for a fool by blowhards like Rush Limbaugh.
He posts constant troll posts, but seems utterly lacking in curiosity.
I mean who do these conservatives respect? They see enemies everywhere, but who are their allies? How did they come to know their ideas cannot possibly be improved?

I find it most amusing when children think that the GOP leadership is really against big government and that the Dem leadership isn't in bed with big business.

My challenge was not to show I am smart, but to challenge the conservatives to articulate who they DO respect. To actually provide leadership requires more than contempt. All I read here is how all sorts of super smart people that a curious person could learn from are idiots in their world (Krugman, Stiglitz, climate scientists, Warren Buffett, even David Frum) because they are liberal or moderate.But loathing everyone different is just a bankrupt ideology.
It is not because they are liberal, it is for the reason that their liberalism defines them and guides everything they say and do that makes them idiots.

Limbaugh, Hannity, Levin, Beck, Nugent and a bucketful of other minor chickenhawks who'll say anything negative about the president.
