Because socialism is for the people, not the socialists.

These are the very same people who fight against school choice vouchers at every turn.

Funny , town I was working in Today ( concord Mass) is very wealthy and very liberal. Town has a realy good school system but if I was to guess I would say 1/3 of kids in town go to private schools.

I'm sure some or even most do, however your claiming that a group of millions of people are the exact same person, which is pretty naive. I'm sure there are many rich lefties that send there kids to public schools, but most probably do send there kids to private schools, cause many rich kids go to private schools regardless of political affiliation.

No. It's because they understand that their responsibility to give their children the best opportunty, and the best environment for success, is paramount to their responsibility to 'make a point' to all of the right wingnuts.

You don't sound like a parent. Otherwise you'd understand this.

No liberal 'wants' to spend the extra money to send their children to private schools. They'd much rather have access to good public schools. But, that unfortunately isn't possible in many school systems.

So, given the choice of paying for a private school and putting their children first, or forcing their children to go to under performing public schools, just to prove a point to the right wingers, they do what any good parent with a triple digit IQ would do. They put their children first.

Then, even though they aren't still in the public school system anymore, they still fight for better schools for the masses, because they understand that we're all in this together. It's called looking at the big picture, and caring for others.

Finland has no private schools, forces the children of the rich and poor to go to school together, yet still has the best education system in the world. Sometimes there's a case for not having any choice.

That said our lefties generally aren't rich, so at least they're not hypocrites.

We want right wingers to get educated instead of walking around as illiterate zombies. Not that we can claim much success with it, but that is the least we can do.

I completely agree. All children should have to go to the same public schools. That way, everyone is in it togeter, and hopefully everyone would better value education. You know, "one for all, and all for one."

Unfortunately, that isn't the law in the USA, and I don't think it's ever going to change, particularly with our over abundance of church based schools. There's too much money to be made.

So, given the choice of reaching deep, and paying for the private school, or sending my children to the public schools just to make a point, my choice is pretty obvious. Trust me, if the public schools in my area were anywhere near as good as the private schools, I would gladly take advantage of them, and save the money.

You're missing the point. Too dense, maybe? Obama sends his daughters to a ritzy private school in DC. Fine. But then he and other liberals in Congress killed a voucher program for poor kids in DC that allowed some of them to attend private schools, as well. Don't you think the parents of those poor kids care as much for their kids as Obama does for his? The hypocriscy is nauseating.

Why do they?

Probably for the same reasons wealthy righties send their children to private schools.

Is there some sort of mystery here?

I'm a liberal...I don't have kids but if I did, they'd go to the local public school.
