The public sector employees and their unions have been stealing from the taxpayers for decades. They have little if any layoffs, generous salaries, medical insurance, retirement and little if any incentive to become more efficient.

After Wisconsin, and the cities of San Jose and San Diego, Iowa is next. I dislike Branstad, but support any measure by anyone to eviscerate the public unions. Enough taking taxpayers for a ride.
I would strongly urge you into looking at Rahm Emanuel has been attempting in Chicago with regards to reforms of HIGHLY entrenched public unions.

Keep in mind Chicago has a budget about 2/3 the size of the entire state of Wisconsin....but what's going on there has been purposefully ignored by both parties whom were focused on WI and frankly unable to swallow the uncomfortable truth that a Dem was going after the public unions.

Such rabid thinking. No one is stealing anything. So what exactly are their generous salaries...dollar amount please. And does not your job provide medical insurance and retirement. If not then perhaps you should rethink where you are working.

i dont care who goes after the public unions, in fact i applaud them for doing so. the reason that democrats can get away with making reforms to public union contracts is because the unions actually support democrats, and the mainstream media backs them up. but let a republican go after the public unions and somehow the republicans are pushing for slave labor, the globe is warming at a faster rate, and the world itself will end violently should the republican succeed.

It has been truly fascinating to watch this power struggle between Rahm and the union. Press is quietly ignoring it because it's a democrat who is going head to head with the fat union thugs, errr.... Karen Lewis (just picturing her face makes me want to vomit - she is the female Michael Moore). Quite the conundrum for lefties! Who to support... Rahm, or the public unions. Dun dun dun dun....

salaries ?? we are talking ridiculous lifetime pensions and health care. Yeah I should re think where I am working . As a self employed person who has paid every medical expense ever incurred cash and owe nothing to anyone I now look forward to a big Obama fine which will mean no more yearly cancer checkups, had it in 87,cause the money will go to the Obama fine which kicks in after the next election not before. screw the gov and the public unions that steal my money and my own health care. stand on your own like me, my legs are weakening under your weight

Sorry, still wanting to know what the huge salaries are. I'm not minimizing your situation but I don't understand why you wouldn't still get yearly check ups because of Obama's health care plan.
Public unions have nothing to do with that.

Salaries are only one piece of the total compensation pie. What price do you put on lifetime health insurance and pensions?

I have no issue with civil service pay. If their benefits reflect the average across the nation I am ok with that also. My point is that civil service works for us, we the people. They shouldn't have it better than the average citizen.
