Not that it is. But I just put up a similar thread a couple of days ago with Andy Griffith in the title and it was taken down within a few hours. I thought the few comments it had time to get were great discussion.

But it doesn't seem to be something a lot of folks are comfortable talking about. Strange to me. Anyway, I had previously posted that I wish many would open up their minds about natural burial vs. modern methods.

I like the idea of not being preserved and burial on family lands.

Your thoughts?

Not sure i'd want to be buried within only a couple of hours after being presumed dead, in fact the whole idea of burial gives me the creeps, burn this body to ashes when i pass on and scatter those ashes somewhere appropriate.

So you are worried about not actually being dead - but want to be possibly burned alive rather then put under the ground where at the very least a communication system could be implemented should you wake up?

I'm not so sure that crematories are set up for instant ability to stop the fire - and to extinguish a flaming person whose vocal cords may have been damaged by smoke and fumes thus rendering your screams silent.

I think that's awesome. I have always wondered the same thing. I just want to be put in the ground, with my blood and skin intact. I don't know why that's illegal. I bury my dogs on our property, don't know why I can't be too.

I don't care, dig a whole, bury me, plant a tree. I'm happy.

Personally, I've told them I want to be cremated, as doing the first option is illegal.

That is what I opted for, only because it's cheap. I don't want any ceremony or service, just do it quietly with no fanfare. I won't know the difference.

Natural burial is not illegal in all areas. There are several cementaries around the country that provide this option.

"Why is Natural Burial so taboo?"

The simple answer, the morticians' lobby.

Thats just it in "cementaries" is a restriction to natural burial. Natural would indicate digging a whole, and burying someone.
