Everyone is like that. People are looking after their interests firsts. The problem is that some groups have the power of unions behind, other are completely unprotected. Politicians are taking care of their personal interests first. Just see our congress. Military protect their veterans. Many government employees - the same.
But not unionized groups only. Dentists for example, would not allow a dentist from another country practice in the US. They are forced to go back and study 3 years(!) and then, pass a very difficult test. They say it for the public safety, but it is actually for the "safety" of the astronomical prices they charge. Same with accountants and lawyers. When I talk to our patent lawyer, they start a meter each time I call and charge us per minute. Can I do the same each time one of our customers call? They'll laugh in my face...
The point is that everyone does what they can to protect their ass and unions are ONE WAY. Those of us who don't benefit from such protection are left outside, at the mercy of the elements.
You've backed up my statement very well. You would be singing a different tune if you were the employer having to follow ridiculous union rules that make you over pay people and won't let you fire people if their work is cr@p, but we also know that situation will never happen. So, screw them right?
The opening post is just an example of how much a union person loves being only on the receiving end of and idea that gives them an unfair advantage.
Nice you admitted being in a Union gives a worker an advantage...now why you hate the idea of an American worker having an "advantage" is the question.

Union rules do NOT force employers to overpay...the contract the employer SIGNED and AGREED to does!

Union people CAN be fired, I don't know why you lie about that.
They can't be fired because the boss wants that position for a relative, they can't be fired on the whim of management....and you hate that kind of protection for American workers???

Call a plumber for a five minute job and see if he charges you the minimum service call or for just six minutes like my lawyer...
