Who knows what they carry under the veil? It could be criminals. What if someone wearing a burka is robbing a bank or store? Harder to identify them.

But remember that wearing burqa/niqab is not mandatory for any Muslims according to their religion.
If we banned wearing the hijab (head scarf) then it would be against the constitution.
Since when is it ok for the US government get into the business of telling people how to practice their own religion? Who cares what's required in Islam or not? People have the right to do whatever the heck they want as long as they don't hurt anyone else doing it.

In order to ban them a new law could be passed charging the Burqa/Niqab wearers with decent exposure.

I wonder how society would feel if guys went around in ski masks, all the time. They call it "religious" but the mere fact that there are so MANY styles of dress among Muslim women shows the religion doesn't really mandate the burqua at all. It is, at its root, control of women. How acceptable is it in America for women to have no say in how they dress? At very least the law should dictate that religious bodies cannot force women to do anything. We should prosecute anyone who does that, as a violation of our constitution's guarantee of rights.
