Would you feel that it was okay, just so they could share benefits?

Probably the same as you would feel if a straight man and straight women married each other just for financial reasons. That's probably never happened though.

Go for it, I don't really care. Unlike some people, I don't have a major complex about people taking "my" definition of marriage "away from me".

Lol, sarcasm, right? I know people personally who have done that (heterosexuals that are not actually in love with each other).

Why would it be any different than the heterosexual couples that now marry for financial reasons, the military has a problem with people marrying just for the pay increase. Or marrying for green cards.

Definitely sarcasm.
I don't get the things that people get in an uproar about. I am assuming that the OP is trying to point out that gay marriage takes a potshot at heterosexual marriage and cheapens it. And somehow stretches the point that gays are just doing it to game the system. Ergo, then how would gays feel if two non-gay, same-sex partners used marriage to game the system?
There is probably not ONE social institution that is not abused for monetary (or some other) benefit. Every program/benefit put in placed is gamed by someone.
People have been "gaming" regular marriage for a long time for financial benefit.

Don't care. None of my business. Besides, how many sham marriages are there now between straight people? Tons...revolving around money.

As soon as hets stop doing that, then you can whine about what gay & lesbian couples might do.
Don't most of the guys on CD whine about gold digging women?
I guess that they either have bad memories or good forgetters.

It would really **** me off.
Why should two people's decision whether or not to legally bind themselves to each other, regardless of their sex, entitle them to government benefits?
Get the government out of the marriage game all together.
