Why do you bother?
Why does it bother you we speak English?
You constantly deflect what is being said here.

Then you do not understand how sarcasm works. It actually is supposed to be close enough to credibility as to not be actively stupid.

Who are you arguing with now? The voices in your head?

I believe English to be a linguistic masterpiece, qualitatively superior to most other languages on the planet. I believe that it has become the international language of science, diplomacy and business not because of the size and status of the US but because it is objectively better for those purposes than any other major world language. I celebrate that we speak English, and am grateful for the good fortune of speaking it as my own native tongue.

In contrast, nobody has a clue what you believe because almost nothing you post is actually meaningful.

Deflecting vacuous inanities back to the actual discussion is a virtue.

It's that narrow, uniform belief that has made America less powerful and far less appealing.

Again, I have no idea who the hell you are arguing with. Who said anything about anything meaning a lot to anybody?

Why should we have one? Studies show countless advantages from learning a 2nd language. It opens way more career opportunities, your collective mastery of language on both sides is improved from having both perspectives (yes your English gets better if you learn Spanish), and it hot rods your overall mental performance. I say we leave this country as an INTERNATIONAL one, none of this provincial bull****. English is the unofficial language of the WORLD, it is the primary language of trade. We don't need a mandate to reinforce its presence. Most politicians that aren't complete batsh*t tinfoil hats like Rick Santorum don't believe it necessary to make English the official language because we don't need to be reminded. Making sure our educational system teaches English to everyone is a WORLD skill. What's more embarrassing is that more Americans aren't bilingual, when most of the world is.

Pandering to the non-English speakers serves to validate that separate but equal is not only okay, but it is to be encouraged.
