IMO states who declared English as their official language did against Constitutional Law of USA.

Want to quote that constitutional law of the U.S. that denies our states or even our federal government from having an official language? Didn't think so because it doesn't exist.

I put your post in for the stupidiest post of the day contest. I think you have a good chance to win.

The ONLY thing that counts is that there is NO law, constitution or otherwise, that says English is our official language.

People in the United States should be literate and fluent in English. For their own good. But if they're not, that's their problem.

I lack the self-absorbed narcissism to demand that everyone else speak English for my sake. Besides, the issue takes care of itself. Some immigrants learn accented English, some don't. Virtually all their children learn English as well as the mother tongue of their parents. By the third generation, most are monolingual English speakers.

Now, back to your regularly-scheduled ginned-up 'concern' ...

That's not entirely true. When immigrants are ill-prepared for success they become our problem.

There's been a lot of theoretical debate in this thread. I like to keep this one simple. Over the next seven to ten years 78 million Americans will retire and, for the first time in this nation's history, there will be more citizens not working than citizens working. In addition to Social Security, taxpayers will be expected to fund whatever ill-thought Healthcare scheme is ultimately inacted.

Immigrants that speak English are far more successful than ones that don't. Period. Sometimes folks forget that in addition to the rights granted to citizenship there are also responsibilities.
