Insane people don't know they're insane. Our country's right wing is insane. Obama keeps income taxes lower than Reagan did yet he's some sort of leftist socialist. Teabaggers are so appallingly ill informed, they listen to Rush and Beck and believe what he says as gospel. Notice there's no liberal equivalent to Rush, it's because we're rational people who don't have to be fed talking points. Both parties have moved to the right, there is no liberal party in America but the delusional teabaggers think the center right Democrats are evil socialists when in any other country, they'd be the right leaning party

Electoral Maps 1972-2008

Like 1980, we have an incompetent president presiding over one of the worst economies since 1980. In 1980, even "left leaning" states voted to eject Carter from office and seek a president who would restore economic prosperity to the US. Reagan won in a landslide. The nation by a large margin, which included many democrats, voted for the health of the nation, rather than simply voting for four more years of economic misery.

Fast forward to 2012. By my count, Obama gets between 156-232 electoral votes. He still loses the election, but it is shocking that we have the very same scenario as 1980, yet a much larger portion of the population appears poised to vote for four more years of economic misery, in stark contrast to 1980.

Has the left simply become less and less rational? With a large group of the nation voting in a partisan fashion, in direct conflict with the personal self interest and economic prosperity, what does this portend for the future?
Maybe you should deal with reality, before making assumptions?

Have a look here:

RealClearPolitics - 2012 Election Maps - Electoral Map

Now, click on each each of the gray "toss up" states on this map, and see who is currently leading in each state.

So, tell me more about "your count"?

Nancy Pelosi is rational ?
I'd say Nancy is a good equivalent to Rush with her public comments over the years.

Anyone convinced that America is moving to the Left has not been reading this board. This country has become a bastion of Right Wing money worship, distain for the poor and anti immigrant hypocrisy. The vast wealth of the plutocrats has propagandized the gullible that making them richer will make the rest of us prosperous when the direct opposite is most likely. The rich will get richer and they will do it by stealing from everyone else.
They blame president Obama for a “disastrous” economy when his policies have kept us from falling into a rapid economic death spiral of 30% unemployment and complete commercial and residential real estate price collapse. If these fools do elect a plutocrat that has cost America far more jobs then he “saved” we will experience the collapse and then we will really know hard times while the Wall Street proper people will continue to party.
If you have jobs, thank Obama, if you want to lose it vote for Romney.

Yes, Nancy Pelosi is one of America's best paid and most influential radio personalities. She's the equivalent to John Boehner, no one in the general public listens to either of them or likes them, they're just politicians.

You liberals are delusional. Only 20% of the country considers themselves liberals. Just because liberals scream the the loudest doesn't mean they're in the majority, not even close to it.

Conservatives Remain the Largest Ideological Group in U.S.

I find it quite ironic that you are saying this on the day conservatives lost most of SB1070, which was based mostly on racism.

Racism most certainly is an emotion.

Conservatism is alive and well.
So are the conservatives ever going to bet a back bone so they can rescue hard working Americans from the disgust they feel from so many people acting as freeloaders as they collect entitlements from the government? Is Romney advocating abolishing government welfare and giving it to private charities? The answer is NO! The actual truth is that conservatism is too feeble to do much of anything to solve our country's serious problems.

Why should they? They just have to elect democrats that act like Republicans.....Clinton and Obama for example.

It's easier that way.
