Your boy Obama had $800 BILLION DOLLARS to use for infrastructure improvements.
He decided to hand that money to friends and families of bundlers and their solar companies and to state pension funds.
The real problem is most of that money has NOT been spent. The RW had been wasting so much money on war that there were not very many "shovel ready" projects to start building. This is just one of thousands of bridges that need to be repaired, rebuilt or replaced before they fall down.
It doesn't matter what you're for or against, the bridge is not affordable at this time.
Now, here we have a good illustration of the GOP mind. A fantastic piece of critically needed infrastructure. This project will provinde many jobs over many years. It will inject billions into the Detroit area economy. It will help grow the biggest trade relationship in the world. It will cost the taxpayer exactly ZERO $$$$$ and YET we have a person here saying it's not affordable.
To these kinds of people there is absolutely no reality at all. They live in a lala land and the thing that never ceases to amaze me, they think that sane, rational people should give what they think any consideration at all.
Because he just wants to build a span next to the existing span. Canada wants it built at another location where it can be directly connected from I-75 to Canada's 401 highway. President Obama needs to assert some Federal authority in this. He needs to order the bridge be built whether Michigan likes it or not. It is an international crossing linking to a Federal Interstate. Michigan has no say so over it.

The bridge is very affordable. This is the BEST time to build it because interest rates on the bonds to finance it are at record lows. And it would help with lots of jobs in Michigan and Ontario.
