You actually think the NBA (a private, for profit organization) doesn't have or enforce its morality clause?! The bozos who get paid millions signed it are expected to follow it, with the threat for economic sanctions against them when deemed violated.

The freaking government or "oversensitive PC mob" has absolutely nothing to do with this.

i'll never understand the crowd who complains about PC and people being sensitive. Is it really that hard to not use a gay slur?

The clause is there because they know people are sensitive losers!

Personally, I tend to believe sports heroes have even less redeeming qualities than politicians. There are exceptions in both, but they are precious few in number.
Well, I certainly didn't mention race, but if the shoe fits, I guess they should wear it.

I haven't liked baseball since Roger Maris and Bobby Richardson or basketball since Jerry West. I have never watched a football game in my life and never will. Despicable thugs, in my view.

I agree with your sports/political reference.

What I notice is the majority of the time the people that want to claim "oversensitive PC" are the ones that will never have to worry about any of these things deemed to be offensive, being said about them in the first place.

"Someone should be 'allowed' to say the N word to someone else."

"People should be 'allowed' to call someone a ***got."

etc. etc

of course they should when none of that crap is ever going to apply to you, makes it easier to see why it's A-okay.

It includes offensive speech..... obviously, because most rap music and reality tv is more offensive to more people than a gay slur and it is not banned
You would think someone from Texas would understand that you don't have freedom of speech when it comes to representing an outside entity.

Well, he represents a certain organization and a certain sports team. As such, they have the right to curtail speech they deem inappropriate of someone who represents them. Nothing wrong with that - it's well within their right.

I hope not. You can generally say whatever you want. However, if you are a public figure, whatever you say can quickly be seen as a reflection of the organization for which you work. Most organizations are in the business of making money and don't really like it when some of their representatives go about offending some of their customers. It makes for bad business, especially since it's not just the offended group you lose but also others who sympathize with people who suffer from such behavior.

I am glad I don't have to read about golfers who tweet that the Negro they just played with should just get back on a tree. I am glad that I don't have to read how Chinks shouldn't be allowed to play basketball. I also don't need to read about the basketball-playing Kraut who is probably a Nazi like all Germans. Or how Caspers can't jump/run. It's all just freedom of speech, right?

Doesn't matter bro..... it is offensive and someone is silencing someone else because they are offended by it

Where does it stop I am offended by lots of things but I reognize the right for these people to say them

You would think that a Liberal would be FOR freedom

In fact, this strikes me as a republican ideal. The NBA is a group of company owners, they fined an employee for doing something they didn't like. Don Imus did something his company didn't like, he was fired. Michael Richards said something people didn't like, people decided to stop giving him money.

What's interesting is, if you call the Tea Party racist, or even say that there are racists in the Tea Party (as the NAACP did), ey scream about how horrible you are, create misleading videos, and so forth, but use a slur against a minority, and many of them will say that's fine, and nobody should stop giving you money. It speaks to a basic lack of empathy.
