I'll bet you $1,000 that by the end of 2015, the numbers will prove you wrong. DM me if you're willing to put your money where your mouth is. We'll sign a contract ensuring that our anonymity remains intact to everyone but each other, and we'll put the money in escrow for two and a half years. We'll take a sample of policy pricing today, and again at the end of 2015. If prices have gone up by > 10%, I win. If they go down by > 10%, you win. Anything else is a draw. You in?

Yet somehow we're still committed for the indefinite future to spending hundreds of billions of dollars per year on this demographic, even with the implementation of Obamacare. Amazing....

And let's not forget the fact that the "terminal or old" being "put on the back burner" is how we ended up with government healthcare (Medicare/caid) in the first place. That was hardly the fault of Obamacare, now was it? By pure actuarial standards, they "were not worth investing in" then either, and I don't see how Obamacare changes that dynamic in the manner you seem to think it will.

the secret "death panels"

the horror stories from other socialist healthcare and treatment of the old

Healthcare will turn into a California DMV. I cant tell you how many times I've walked out of a DMV in California. Oh, look how many Canadians come to the US for healthcare.

No good will come from this. None. Except to keep enabling the moochers.

Why would Canadians need to come here for healthcare?

Europeans, Canadians baffled by U.S. furor on healthcare - latimes.com

Quote - Canadians also found the furor confounding. “Why do Americans have to be dragged kicking and screaming into a policy choice that the rest of the civilized world decided long ago was a cornerstone of a humane society?” Jonathan Kay wrote in the National Post, a Canadian paper.

How is providing Americans with healthcare enabling anything?

Wanted to add this also..

Quote - “Dear Americans. Health insurance is very important for your health and life. Don’t forget. We have it in Germany,” one Twitter user from Germany wrote, adding a smiley face to the end.

Rafael Dohms, a computer engineer living in the Netherlands, wrote, “I’m forced to pay health insurance here in the [Netherlands] … not as bad as I would have imagined.”

And Parisian filmmaker Vincent Galiano joked, “At least USA becomes a modern nation! Soon even the education could be good!”

What death panels are you talking about. I keep hearing this term but no one elaborates. So could you please.

Very few Canadians go to the US for heath care...Some Canadians vacationing in the US get care when an unexpected problem crops up, but it is entirely paid for by their Canadian coverage, and as far as our elderly are concerned we are well taken care of...Another thing, our heath care is not socialism...The doctors and hospitals here are private businesses.... Debunking Canadian health care myths - The Denver Post

The only good thing I can see about your new health care system is that everybody will be covered, but it is going to cost you, because it is still relying on private insurers with their monstrous overhead and duplication of services...In order to get reasonable cost effective insurance, the insurance companies would have to go, and and a single payer system would have to be adopted....I think that what you are heading for is going to be much more expensive than what you had.

I guess these other countries are forced to do a lot of things and are used to it. Im 32, good health and I dont want to be forced to get something I don't want or need. It should be just that. But now I'm damned if I do, damned if I dont. Either way, I pay now.

US used to pride ourselves in being free. Being able to do what we want, make our own choices. Make our own choices. NOPE, cant do that anymore, well, at least without paying a tax.

I think what gets gets me going is that fact that I work. I worked for everything I have. I pay my debts. Even when unemployed, I never once missed a payment. I traded in my truck for something cheaper. I downgraded cable. I made lifestyle changes. I was unemployed for a couple months and I took care of myself. I dont care what any body says, but what I did makes me better than any democrat out there. Its this whole mentality you all have that think everybody deserves something. The truth is YOU DONT!
Sorry for being a little off topic, but this is just not right.
