Abuse of power in any form is disgusting. Most of us are helpless when it comes to fighting abuse of government power. So when somebody steps up, we should support them any way we can.

So the charges can just be dropped when they realize she's going to push it?

I was a cop (until I found out what the job was REALLY like, and decided pretty quickly to leave); believe me when I say they will play games and harass people just because they can. It's disgusting.

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with people getting a lottery-sized jackpot at the expense of taxpayers, but there isn't much that can be done. The public is apathetic at best, so protests and news conferences don't work. A forced apology from the agency chief doesn't mean jack **** to either party.

I think the best thing would be for officers to be immediately terminated and have their certification yanked permanently when things like this happen (when they grossly violate civil rights or have such an obvious lapse in judgment).

Cops abusing their power are the lowest form of life. Right down there with other power abusers like child molesters.

Let's hope she gets a big settlement from the city of Houston.

ACLU should take the case, this is clearly a 1st amendment issue
