Obamacare is expected to throw up to 20M more people off their employer sponsored health insurance. I'm sure you'll be one of the first to whine about how big greedy corporations are kicking people off.
What I'm hoping is that my state does the opt out of Obamacare.
I end up paying out-of-pocket all the time anyhow (which is rarely because we don't get sick in my family) since I never meet the deductible. I really only need insurance for something catastrophic.
What's great about Obamacare if my state does the opt out is that then I could safely drop my insurance plan, save a lot of money every month on the premiums. Pay out of pocket as I have been doing but if something were to come up and someone became sick, relocate that one to an Obamacare state and buy the insurance then because the pre-existing condition will no longer matter.
So glad to know that you can reinterpret what he wrote and twist to what you have an answer for. As he said "There is nothing in the bill that will contain HEALTH CARE COSTS!". The only way that controlling health insurance costs could be construed as containing health care costs is if you are a proponent of rationing. Say it isn't so!

There simply isn't enough housing for all the poor to relocate. If the poor started moving in substantial numbers to another state, that state's rental housing would quickly become unaffordable, which would effectively stop the movement. Duh.
The zoning and housing rules would probably be tightened to further curb the problem.

Funny though..it doesn't stop illegals from doing that. Look how they flocked out of Alabama when that law was passed.
We got 2 new students in 6th grade from Alabama during that timeframe. Yes, they do just up and move and I don't know how they do that financially.
How can so many illegals afford to live in CA ? That one has always stumped me as CA is a pretty high COL state.
They're afraid they won't have the money to pay their state's 10% of the cost of expanding Medicaid to cover the poorest of the poor, but they never seem to have a problem supporting or subsidizing their corporate buddies through tax breaks, outsourcing of government services and direct grants to business for "economic development."
Once again, the Republican's show their true colors. Nobody counts to them but the wealthy. If handed power in November, they'd probably re-write the poem found on the Statue of Liberty ("The New Colossus," by Emma Lazarus):
"Give me your comfortable, your wealthy,
Your elites yearning to make more profit,
Keep the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
We don't want these, the homeless and tempest-tost.
We snuff the lamp beside the closed door!"
You certainly confuse immigratiion issues with health care for the poor when you bring in "The New Colossus".
Which one would you like to discuss: federal immigration issues or state health care issues?
The poorest of the poor are already getting medicaid so what is the OP's beef ?
This is about a "newly defined" poor that don't get medicaid today, are not considered poor enough today and still won't be poor enough to qualify for other "poor" benefits because this is limited to Obamacare.
The foundation of the health care mess is the government, not the solution.
Government criminalized the unlicensed trade in it.
Government generated shortages of trained professionals.
Government inflated the cost of it.
Government imposed the bureaucratic overhead.
Government enabled the malpractice tort abuse.
And
Government imposed taxes on the healthcare industry which are passed on to the patient - for where else do they get their money to pay taxes?
So now we're told that we will have to pay MORE TAXES, for LESS performance, at HIGHER COST, and it's our only option for “affordable” health care.
I agree. But it seems our government thinks everything is possible and payable. Why is that ?
Like money grows on trees ? Like Bernanke cranking out the money is not going to come back and hit us in the butt ?
Yeah yeah I know..we got those 400 really really rich people who, one day, will be taxed to pay for all of it so we shouldn't worry right ?
This zero sum game thinking is flawed on several accounts. Our tax rates are 15% of GDP. That is too low. They should be 20-22% just to meet our present commitments, which are about 24% of GDP. The GOP is trying to sell itself as the party of fiscal prudence, but it is really the party of magical thinking. Bush did not cut any expenses. Instead he launched two wars and the prescription drug benefit. Reagan deficit spent too. And the notion that we can cut spending by 40% without destroying the economy and starving the people is moronic.
Regardless, serving our people should rank above having the largest military and the lowest taxes in the civilized world, both by huge margins. Health insurance is not trivial expense, it is one of the reasons civilization exists.
