Thats your dream?? or the dream you think many would prefer over working at a decent job?
lets put some reality to it
You arent working so you are broke for most of the month
You have no car
You live in a dump,
you gotta be selling dope to afford beer, pizza, ganga
you spend your days watching tv so you are probably a fat slob.
your apartment reeks of cigarettes, pot and beer.
The likelihood of you having the energy to go and vote is slim to none
And these supposed girlfriends have got to be also scraping the bottom of the barrel as well.

I'd presume its the life some one who doesnt want to work for a living and would instead chose to be a permanent welfare bum would live.
I'm all for some safety net programs to temporarily help people out if they unexpectedly fall on hard times but to use these programs as a permanent lifestyle is pathetic, however i wouldnt cancel the programs because a few chose to scam the system,ya never know what the future holds and maybe life takes a turn for the worst and you will be glad that social safety net is in place.

Took the thread post right from my fingertips. It's the "End of Responsibility." You were lucky to be born in the '40s. I tell my father all the time that he should be lucky to have grown up when he did. I have seen nothing in the past decade from either side of the political spectrum to indicate to me that this will ever be a great nation again. I can imagine sitting around a few decades from now reminiscing the glory days when this country was much more free than it is now. I heard "this is the greatest nation on earth" all of the time in the '80s and '90s. Haven't heard that in ages. The government really is creating a permanent dependent class and creating new criminals everyday via behavioral laws.

I will never need Daddy Government to tell me what to do, what to think, what to eat, or anything. Not the country I grew up in whatsoever. Loser liberal culture has taken over. It's just amazing. I just don't understand what's gone on in someone's life where they are clamoring for the government to tell them how to live. We used to tell the world what to do. Now everyone wants to live in a European nanny socialist state propagated by whatever the media tells them. I mean this honestly--it feels completely foreign from the nation I grew up in: freedom, responsibility, hard work, no such thing as a free lunch, strong sense of what it meant to be a great nation, etc. Sharks prepare their offspring for the rigors of life better than in today's America. The coming generations will never know what it felt like to live during America's greatness. By the very nature of having been conceived, they will owe the government from the womb. Cradle to the grave. Nuts.

Unfortunately it also describes the mentality that america is slowly adopting. Let the government pay for it. As if it is all free.

They should switch back the welfare as it was during Clinton's time where the person couldn't be on welfare for more than 5 years in their lifetime and they could only be on it 2 years at a time.

I dont think that mentality is as prevalent as you may think it is. i think you are confusing the vast number of people who want a job but cant find one and are using social programs to tide them over until a job is found with the significantly lower number of people who flat out dont want to work and are instead choosing to live Chaffeetrekker hypothetical dream world.
It would be interesting to know if given a choice how many would take a decent job over the welfare lifestyle described, i'm sure a very high % would go for the job and not the welfare...

All Clinton did was change the names and reclassify welfare as only TANF which is the cash money reward. That cash giveaway still has a 5 year limit -- but none of the other welfare handouts have any limits. Food stamps, Section 8 housing vouchers, Medicaid, SSI and the rest can go on for the welfare recipient's whole life.

The cash giveway shouldn't exist at all.
