It seems like we have a lot of posters here who like to act like the government is the source of malfeasance, incompetence, and corruption, and the private sector is the annointed, divine love child immmaculately conceived by Adam Smith and Ayn Rand. Therefore, we don't need thing like the EPA, Wall Street regulation, etc. We seem to be seeing an almost endless parade of shameless corporate scumbags these days.
Hence, I introduce an honorary term in this thread title to describe the corporate sleaze who are constantly trying to fleece their fellow citizens. Do some browsing to see of the fine innovations of our private sector. And they've been going on for a long time.
Personally, I think that government is the only thing that can possibly reign in scumbaggery, and it is of course doubly alarming when the same people who fleece their fellow citizens in the marketplace also run the government. Gratuitous sleaze is not what our country needs.
Since most American's don't know one bit about our history, the RWNJ proponents of returning to those days are completely unaware that it was exactly the greed and excesses of that era which led to the ideas of government regulation and the rise of unions as a matter of self-defense.
In other words, by supporting the elimination of government regulators, unions and social services, they're trying to recreate the very conditions which brought us those things in the first place!
I am preparing to call a non-profit organization that is requesting a loan. They brought in $1.2 million last year and $500,000 of it went to salaries and benefits. Only $350,000 actually went to the people they were collecting it for.
Wait and see, they probably want a loan to buy a Mercedes.
Until government can clean up its own act, how do they have any business putting more regulation and limits on the private sector? We have plenty of liars, deceivers, and corruption in Washington, and people on the Left want to give them MORE power and MORE oversight over not just companies but PEOPLE.

Talk about a self-destructive policy!
Wow, ironic isn't it?
Those, add some juice to that claim that those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it...!
All the rage against unions...the nerve of those workers getting together and fighting for a fair deal. They might anger the job creators!!!

But, you see, the government is intended to serve THE PEOPLE. Corporations serve their shareholders. I am not arguing that government is free of nastiness, but it is the only hope most of us have to provide decent environment, safe living conditions, national defense, and basic health care. Corporations will not do those things unless they serve their short-term profit needs. And they will often do things for profit that undermine those very things. Not to say we do not need industry. Of course we do, but without constraints, crime and other consequences will ensue.
