It is the same crappy mentality. But when you go to Boulder, you see NO MINORITIES, people are always in a bad mood, the only people who make real good money in Boulder are corrupt politicians and therapists who work with these angry liberal types. Oh and people want to IMPOSE their views on you. You say anything they don't like @ a coffee shop, you will get approached and attacked. Eat meat and the crazies there give you dirty looks. Taxes in Boulder are through the roof.
They believe in "choice" in Boulder, but that does NOT include the choice of being a Christian, the choice of being conservative, the choice of eating meat, or the choice to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights. Say anything they dislike, and I am serious, people will start attacking you verbally. They do NOT buy the whole 1st Amendment concept there, unless you agree with them. Drug use is rampant, homelessness is commonplace, gang grafitti can be seens in many areas of town (mind you, this is a SMALL TOWN, all these crimes shoudl NOT be happening). Cost of living is through the roof.
Oh and being a pedophile or criminal in Boulder is easy; the Boulder County DA is so liberal, she lets people get away with everything, because she believes people are "victims of society's unfairness", like a lot of liberals do. There were this young couple that KILLED THEIR NEWBORN and nothing ever happened to the parents. She treated it like it was a "after-birth abortion". O'Reilly confronted her, but she didn't give a crap.
Trust me, I have been to Boulder many many times. The town is filled with tension, angry students, and tons of depression. These people are the Rosie O'Donnell angry liberal types. It is depressing to go there. That is why I rather go to Fort Collins or Loveland or Winter Park when I want to enjoy different towns in Colorado. Boulder is just fileld with nutcases.

You know a lot of people gravitate to places like San Francisco and Boulder because of its highly liberal atmosphere. In a way these are sanctuary cities for people who are tired of the same old America and want to see it evolve.
Label it however you like, but there are a lot of liberal Americans out there, I could reflect the "nutcases" comment right back on the neo-conservatives that want to cure this country by having wars, putting up walls, driving SUV's and eating a steak every day.
let's just cut to the chase, changing a "pledge" is just symbolic and is just a jesture with a segment of people who support this. The meat and potatos is they want to scrap the Constitution and put something like the U.N charter ahead of it.
They see nationalism as a backwoods mentality, they think it's not fair that America has it so good while other nations don't and instead of demanding other nations raise their principles on individual liberty, they would rather lower America's to equalize everything.Well maybe they don't want to be rid of every liberty, just the ones that make a person a individual and hold this country together.
TR was a nationalist but a liberal, inclusive nationalist ; he was not a corporate puppet but aimed for a better life for Americans of all classes. In an era of controversies over immigration, he sought to include the hated immigrants of the day (the European immigrants who were the ancestors of most white Americans today) into the greater society and promoted measures to integrate them into the larger society rather than marginalize them. To a lesser extent (due to the nature of the times he lived in), he felt that blacks could and should also have better lives and be able to participate fully in American society. The only ethnic group he regarded as unassimilable was Asians (too many people today forget that Asians on the West Coast were treated as badly as blacks in the South at the time, complete with lynchings, and the same stereotypes were in circulation about Asian men being crazed criminals bent on raping white women - how stereotypes change), but even then he forced California to stop operating a "Jim Crow" type separate but equal school system for Asians. He also was in favor of regulation of corporate power and abuses as he saw said abuses as encouraging the growth of radicalism as a backlash. Also, he was one of the most brilliant US presidents intellectually speaking with an outsized personality. While he has acquired a reputation as a hawk, he got the US out of the Philippine War early in his presidency and for most of his presidency kept the country at peace. IMO, the last truly great Republican president.
A great quote from Teddy: "If this country is not a good place for any of its citizens to live in, it is not a good place for all of its citizens to live in."
If he was alive today he'd probably be a moderate Dem, not a Republican.

Evolve? From what Nirvana-guy described, there is no evolution there. That is regression. How is it evolving?
I always despised having to say "the Pledge" when I believed that there was no god and "Freedom and Justice for All" was a myth. As far as I can tell it still is.
The liberals want to restore the Constitution as the ruling document in this country while the neocons, right wing followers and Christian Tyrannizers see it as an impediment to the corporate control of everything.
I want a country with nearly unlimited personal liberty free of Religious domination with “Freedom and Justice for all” under one Law and divested of the colonies wars the neocons demand. A country that pays for the government with really progressive income taxes instead of loans and regulates business enough to eliminate monopolies and speculation.

That would mean that Boulder is more "lifestyle liberal" than ANYWHERE in California...
