The Philippines also celebrate their Independence Day on the 4th of July. Independence from whom? The United States. What do Americans think about that? I doubt most Americans care one bit. And they only got their independence in 1945. The British probably care even less considering it's been over 200 years since the we broke away.

The Brits are cousins. We have had a good alliance going back to WWII and before, and will hopefully continue as long as I am alive.

Why didn't Napoleon take England?

Why didn't Hitler take England?

What's up with England?

Most Brits think the 4th of July is when Will Smith saved America from Aliens.

Are you indifferent? Does it upset you - like rubbing salt in a wound? I'm curious - because a lot of people forget what we are celebrating - and to put it bluntly - we declared ourselves independent from a major world power and then proceeded to defeat them in a long drawn out war.

Does this bother current day U.K. subjects or ex-patriates? Is it considered a demonstration of American "arrogance"? Or do not care? What do you think?
I used to live in the Caribbean & every year we'd go into the office to find a big Union Jack banner that read "Come help us celebrate the riddance of a worthless piece of rock on July 3rd at ______'s house"

They don't obsess on history like some people in America do, they got a life. Do you think they should march, burn and loot?

Yeah, for 250 years we annually rub their noses in the fact that they Lost!

And every year we waste more gun powder on fireworks than was used in the whole war!

Not only that - but we STOLE the tune from God Save the Queen for our National Anthem, and used the same colors for our flag. Couldn't even come up with something original.
