I just received a letter from an organization called the Wounded Warrior Project. Included was a heart-wrenching story about a young man who had been seriously injured fighting in Iraq, along with a plea for a donation to help him. I guess what I don't understand is why are our returning veterans even being put in the position that an organization needs to be formed to help get them financial support? Isn't our government taking care of these heroes? If not, then why not? Our leaders should be ashamed of themselves sending our kids off to war and not giving them everything they need when they return sick or injured.
I wouldn't give a penny to that bloated over administrated organization. Many better charities exist for former and current armed service members who are in need.
It's one of the few legitimate charities that still exists. It's better to put your money there than in a fire department full of overweight fat bodies who just want a new trick or toy. No, you don't need a 7 million dollar fire station either.

It's for a great cause.
Clean air is a great cause. However tossing money into the wind isn't going to help it. What the heck do fire departments have to do with donating to wounded warrior.

If you want to start a rival feud...Tell a VET or a COP how much more important a Fireman is. It's the classic brawl and never ends well. Consequently they rarely get along or see eye to eye. Everyone is ALWAYS giving them money. Do some homework to see just how it is wasted.
Many wounded vets are reservists who get much less financial support than those on active duty. The United States has never adequately cared for our veterans.
