As some of you may be aware, there are Americans who serve in the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces).
It seems to me that to serve in a foreign military would be a treasonous offense, which should ordinarily cause someone to lose their U.S. citizenship.
Of course there is a built-in "but it's Israel, so it's really okay" factor. Anyone else will get tried for treason. Short answer...you will jeopardize your citizenship should you take an oath for another country.

Well since your view has no basis for a charge of treason under the U.S. Constitution and the fact that U.S. citizens served courageously as members of the Chinese, Canadian and British armed services in the years leading up to U.S. involvement in both WWI and WWII, I don't share your concerns.
The Supreme Court as ruled in a number of cases that U.S. citizens have a right to serve in foreign militaries, Wiborg v. U.S. , 163 U.S. 632 (1896) or face the risk of losing one's citizenship for serving in a foreign military which is not engaged in hostilities against the U.S. Afroyim v. Rusk , 387 U.S. 253, Vance v. Terrazas , 444 U.S. 252 (1980), I can think of no compelling reason to support your opinion.
Is Israel waging war on the United States? No. Are these Americans fighting with the IDF providing aid or comfort to America's enemies? No. Those are the actions that constitute treason in the United States. These persons are not traitors. It is odd - but given the history of Israel it shouldn't be surprising that their are Jewish Americans who want to help ensure her security.
Well, technically I think US citizens can join the French Foreign Legion. I'm not so sure it's illegal or should be illegal, but I'm sure it would raise a few eyebrows.

If an American citizen wanted to go to Pakistan or Germany, or whatever nation and serve in their military, should they be allowed to?
I'm no expert, but serving in a foreign military would only be treasonous if that military took up arms against the United States or if the nation served by that army was considered by the appropriate authorities as an enemy.
It would be expected that an American citizen would either resign his commission or never serve in that army if such a thing happened.
Many American leftists fought for the communists during the Spanish Civil War.
