I appreciate your insight. I personally do not prefer to restrict anyone's thought process by setting rigid limits in my OP. But if the issue is clarity, the homosexual agenda and GWB's Christian faith are relevant to this forum IMHO. Your thoughts.

Eeesh, how do I get this foot out of my mouth, and the proper words at the same time? I misunderstood your initial "Bingo!" response to Alpha, and that's why I posted what I did. I'm SOOO sorry about that! I'm a bit embarrassed now. Anyway, you're fine.

I apply my beliefs to all aspects of my life. My relationship with my wife, my decisions on schools, places to live, etc.

Many of us post on the Poiltics forums and other forums as well. The divided forums were something the 'powers that be' came up with so that discussions were topical etc.

I didn't make my remarks to be termed a 'convenient Christian', I made my remarks because we're all supposed to respect the guidelines these forums operate under.

I'm also a bit tired of Christians being known more for what they are opposed to (homosexuality, evolution, etc) rather than what we are for (the furtherance of the Kingdom of God and the glorification of the Lord Jesus Christ).

I certainly hope I didn't offend you by making my comments, 3rd culture, but if you want a Christians perspective on this, I can't imagine any other answer from a professing Christian than the one I initially gave.....

Default Line item veto

In the political sense... "attaching of legislation" is a common practice. However this methodology of inclusion should be discontinued, or allow the President, a "line item veto". I hope the president does not sign the bill.

To put this in perspective... if you needed money to pay for your mortgage, you'd have to permit your neighbors kids to do as they please and make correcting them wrong, and punishable if you did! Two separate and distinct issues that prevents any dialogue. Take it or leave it mentality.

The law historically provided "special" protection for groups or people who did not have full access to society. Years ago it was women... today children are the only group I see as "entitled" to special legislation to protect them above and beyond common law.

To suggest this should be a Christian value vote, is an attempt to divide Christians rather than promote understanding. All of scripture is to teach, reproof and edify... not divide or be subject to stereotype labels like "convenient Christians". How does that help? and where does the scripture say we should label people? Where is the wisdom in that statement?

Matt 16:23 But after turning and looking at his disciples, he (Jesus)rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.”

Jesus also tell us....Our battle is not against flesh... it is against institutions... agendas by any group that has open sin, and promotes sinful behavior. ANY GROUP. When anyone promotes an agenda... other than God's... Jesus tells us it's satans work, and that work is to divide and destroy.

I am against any "special protective" legislation other than law that protects children and animals, they can't vote. If you can register to vote... there is your protection.
