This past Thursday (9.27.07), the U.S. Senate approved a measure expanding the federal hate-crime law to cover violence against gays. To make it difficult for President Bush to veto, the U.S. Senate attached it to a war-defense bill betting that the president will sign it. As of today (9.29.07), the president has yet to make his decision. Your thoughts. Sign Up
I only wish they could attach other things like more money for New Orleans, child healthcare programs (which he's been fighting), more money for education, environmental acts, alternative fuel measures, etc.

I do have to admit this belongs in the Political forum, not the Christianity forum - unless this has something to do with people somehow thinking Christians will no longer be permitted to speak out against homosexuality. But from what I've read of the bill, it doesn't say anything like that.
It would behoove any Christian to apply their beliefs to all aspects of their life, including politics. By not doing so, you are what's called a "convenient Christian", meaning only being Christian when it's convenient. I vote for keeping this thread under the Christian forum instead of the Politics forum.

I'm not going to disagree with you necessarily. I think the reason Alpha may have asked, and indeed why I concurred, is that you don't specifically mention anything in your OP about how this may relate to Christianity. That's all.
