This is a spinoff from the "Why do conservatives hate minorities/poor people" thread. Granted, I think this is a question with (what I consider) obvious answer, but many conservatives here don't seem to get it, so here it goes.

When conservatives (white and black) say things like "Dems want to keep blacks poor stupid and on welfare" and "on the plantation" and claim that white Democrats treat you like slaves and brainwash you into needing them, do you find this offensive? Why is it offensive to you? I'm white, but I think if I were black, I'd be PO'd. It implies that Republicans think that I vote Democrat because I can't think for myself. and that I'm still no better off than a slave because I'm "owned" by the Democratic party and don't have the brains or resources to "escape" to the Republican "liberators."

That's my take, but I could be wrong. So does it actually bother you when they say things like this? I mean, I would think so, but a lot of conservatives don't seem to get it.

What a horrific rewrite of the political narrative. Democrats use those words, Republicans do not.

I never understood why white republicans say that any black who votes dem is on the plantation. What about poor whites living in appalachia in 3rd world poverty who generation to generation will vote for republican.

its the either your with us or against us with those whites. If you dont vote republican, your a hopeless slave who wants to be chained to the plantation.

no middle ground with those whites. you cant vote dem, and vote dem because you like the policies, its only because you want free stuff.

those whites annoy me.

Clinton's 'plantation' remark draws fire - CNN
Josh, I've read (and heard on the radio) those terms used by right wingers to describe Black Democrats and their relationship with the Democratic party numerous times.

It is just more of the same old, same old from conservatives. They just naturally assume that everyone is too stupid to see through their BS. Like when they try to convince people that the Confederate flag had nothing to do with slavery.

When they choose to use terms like "plantation", "slave", etc., I believe that it is just a sign that their racism is so deep seated and pervasive that they honestly don't understand how offensive their statements are to minorities and other non-racists. I actually think the use of code words and other subtle forms of bigotry is much worse than the burning cross/white hood variety. At least the KKK and other white supremacist groups have the courage to just come right out with it.

It is a turn off and an insult of my intelligence. I have posted about this before. Apparrently, they really coudn't care less and believe that bullying people and telling them that they are too stupid to make informed decisions when it comes to voting is the best way to gain votes.
