Personally, I have looked at the many "studies" and, after doing so, disagree with you (liberals use the word "crisis") - there is, IMO, a time coming when Social Security will be "insolvent"
There is a time coming when the sun will explode, and the earth will be blown, as clouds of dust and gas, back into the universe from whence it came. That'll be the end of Social Security for sure. Projected to happen in about 5 billion years. Let's all worry about it. Meanwhile, even under conditions of your so-called insolvency, were it to occur, SS could afford to make 70+ percent of scheduled benefit payments, and each of those payments would be worth more than what the 100 percent equivalent benefit is worth today. Furthermore, this condition of insolvency can be easily avoided, meaning that 100% of scheduled benefits could be assured indefinitely. It's a little like driving along and coming to a sign that says Bridge Out Ahead. Do you think you would put on the brakes at some point? It's an easy thing to do. You'e done it many times before, often without even thinking about it. Solving such probelms as do actually lie in the future of SS is no more complicated than that.

I'd be tempted to if your paraphrased recollection weren't contrary to every other Dick Durbin cite out there on SS. That other kind was easy to find. It's just the one that you allege that seems to be so elusive. Even came across his recitation of the SS Trustees Report on some Club for Growth website...they tried to make the same silk purse out of it as you did...
That would be the SS full retirement age for anyone born in 1960 or later...
