I propose (being in my 30's at the moment) that Americans should vote to decrease the amount of money being dolled out on each social security check NOW, so when gen-X reaches retirement we have something for us! Your thoughts.

I think you should consider a career other than politics.

I agree. I get so mad everytime I see hundreds of Dollars being STOLEN from my paycheck every paycheck for Social Security. We all know SS is going bankrupt anyway as millions are on welfare, millions of illegal aliens live off SS, and the system was never designed to be a retirement plan in the first place!!
I want to put my money in the private sector (regulated, to prevent fraud and schemes) because SS is a loser for people who are under 50 years old.
I would even go so far as to say that I would forfeit any and all rights to social security to be allowed to invest even a third of what they are now stealing from me for my own retirement.

Do you want to keep your Medicare coverage, or are we junking that too? If it's just SS, you're paying 6.2% for that, and a third of it would be roughly 2.07% As far as I know, no law exists that would prevent you from investing such an amount. In fact, I'm pretty sure that you'll find a wide array of tax-favored and other vehicles at your disposal for that very purpose...

I think you know that that is not what I said. It's not as if I don't invest. What I meant, to explain it further, is that I would gladly forfeit my rights to collect social security and continue to pay two-thirds of what I am paying now, so long as I could invest just one-third of my current payment privately.
Skipping over parts of what I wrote and choosing just certain things to comment on makes for misleading posts.
I think if we liquidate a percentage of our military and use the savings from that to stabilize SS, we could be in a better position.
